CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — COVID-19 vaccination clinics for West Virginia seniors are once again scheduled throughout the state this week, including two in Monongalia County and one in Harrison County.
In Harrison County, the clinic will again be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Nathan Goff Armory in Clarksburg. Approximately 500 vaccines will be administered. All slots were filled with people from the waiting list, according to Harrison-Clarksburg Health Department Administrator Chad Bundy.
The focus continues to be on the age 80-plus population, although the wait list is open to anyone 65 and older, he said.
To be placed on the wait list for regional vaccination clinics in Harrison County, individuals can call 304-423-7969.
In Monongalia County, the health department will hold a vaccination clinic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday.
“Appointments will be made from our existing lists of individuals who have called and asked for a vaccine. Individuals 80 and older will be the priority,” said Mary Wade Burnside, public information officer for the Monongalia County Health Department.
To be placed on the wait list for vaccination through the health department clinic, individuals 65 and older can call 304-598-5100 in Monongalia County or 304-816-3769 or visit facebook.com/MarionLHDCommunityImmunityWV/ in Marion County.
Officials at all health department clinics ask that members of the public do not come to a clinic unless they have an appointment to do so, as only those with appointments will get a shot.
Those with appointments should arrive on time, rather than early, to avoid traffic congestion and to allow for social distancing.
WVU Medicine will begin hosting community vaccination clinics at the former Sears location at Morgantown Mall in Westover. This week, the vaccination clinic will serve individuals age 70 and older on Thursday and Friday.
Beginning early next week, WVU Medicine expects to hold clinics on an ongoing basis, with hours of operation depending on the availability of vaccines.
When appointments are available, they can be scheduled online at www.wvumedicine.org/vaccine or at 833-795-SHOT (833-795-7468) between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
All appointments for this week’s clinics were full as of Tuesday evening.
Additional clinics are planned in Berkeley, Braxton, Cabell, Greenbrier, Hardy, Hancock, Kanawha, Logan, Marshall, Mercer, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Randolph and Wood counties.
