Man reunites with dog after car stolen from CVS store, crashed into pole

ATLANTA — A man and his dog are together again after someone stole his car with the dog inside.

Trey Specht spent days posting missing dog flyers around the community looking for his English bulldog, Ronnie.

He said he had parked his car outside a Buckhead CVS store Monday night, went inside for what he said were a couple of minutes, and when he came back out, both his car and dog were gone.

Specht told Channel 2′s Bryan Mims during Channel 2 Action News at 5 p.m. that he had been able to track his Mercedes’ location using the car’s GPS. When police found his car, Ronnie was nowhere to be found.

“The kids were doing donuts in a parking lot, videotaping it, then they immediately took off,” Specht said.

After seeing Specht’s story on Channel 2 Action News, a woman was able to reach out to him and let him know that she had found Ronnie and he was with her. The two reunited on Wednesday night.

Specht told Mims that police tracked the cars, which ended with his Mercedes being crashed into a utility pole along Anderson Avenue.

Video of the crash from a witness shows three or four people inside the Mercedes got away in the other car.

“I could care less about the car. The dog is the only important part,” Specht said.

Specht said so far police have made no arrests in the theft of his Mercedes.

“Never heard him growl once. He loves to lick people, just the sweetest dog ever,” Specht said.

The woman who found Ronnie said he was in the area of Anderson Ave. where the car crashed.
