Anna LoMascolo

Director of Education, Outreach and Engagement

Anna (she/her/hers) provides leadership to all aspects of the education and outreach programming for the Women's Center including program design, implementation, supervision, and assessment of our efforts aimed at advocacy and educating the university community about gender, women's issues, diversity, equity and social justice.  She also serves as a member of the Faculty Affairs Team in support of the efforts of the Executive Vice President and Provost.  Anna serves on the Board of Directors of The Virginia Network (part of the American Council on Education Women’s Network), is an alumna of the Senior Leadership Seminar program, and co-chairs the committee that plans and implements the Institutional Representatives program.  

Anna provides leadership to the Women's Center's programming team, which received the 2006-07 Alumni Association’s award for Excellence in Team Outreach, and leads the Virginia Tech Women's Leadership and Mentoring Program (WLMP), which received the 2015 American Council on Education's State Network Leadership Award.

Anna's demonstrated commitment to gender issues in higher education is evident in her career history, volunteerism, and research. She is also trained in crisis response.

She received her B.A. in Communication Studies from Virginia Tech, her M.A. in Sociology from Humboldt State University (California), and her Ph.D. in Sociology with a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies from Virginia Tech.
