ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (WCAX) - The Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium has finally opened its doors to students at the Community College of Vermont as part of a collaboration that has been four years in the making.

The museum and CCV have been planning to build a new classroom space since 2020 which features the creation of the museum’s new Tang Science Annex. The project to create the new space cost about $6 million. CCV says a classroom at Fairbanks is the perfect learning environment and brings opportunities that they have not had in St. Johnsbury before.

“One thing that means a lot to students is being able to come and be served. Either receiving their advising or receiving their financial aid counseling, or receiving an educational experience, but to do that in a place that has a lot of energy as well as vibrancy to it,” said CCV’s Gretchen DeHart.

CCV says this space will be serving about 200 students in the St. Johnsbury area, who are set to be in the classroom by February 7th.
