Originally from Harrisville in Ritchie County, Sam has always lived in north central West Virginia. After graduating from Ritchie County High School, Sam attended Davis & Elkins College in Randolph County where she had a successful four years as a college track athlete.
She graduated from D&E with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with concentrations in Literature and Writing. She also picked up a minor in Art—just for fun.
Sam began working as a Digital Producer for WBOY 12 News in July 2021 and began an Executive Digital Producer role in August 2022.
Her favorite stories to write are West Virginia success stories. Some of her favorite pieces include Did you know there are freshwater jellyfish in West Virginia?, West Virginia place names you might be saying wrong and How a Tucker County kid became an Olympic ski coach.
