WATCH: Graham says GOP nomination is Trump’s for the taking

.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican, said the 2024 GOP presidential nomination is former President Donald Trump’s for the taking “unless there’s something coming out of left field” and that Trump will win if he “runs a disciplined campaign.”

“The Republican base appreciated him,” Graham said Wednesday. “We don’t appreciate all the things he does sometimes. But from a policy point of view, he was the most successful president from a conservative’s point of view since Ronald Reagan.”

Trump needs to remind voters of his successes in office, the South Carolina Republican said, and members of the GOP can expect a “blowout year” during the 2022 midterm elections if they deliver a Trump-led “America first” message, he said.

Democrats need to have their failures emphasized, Graham told Fox News.

“We will clean their clock,” he said. “In 1994, we won 73 seats to take over … the House for the first time in 40 years. If we play our cards right, we will exceed that.”

The senator also took his chance to take a shot at President Joe Biden.

“He’s just incompetent,” Graham said. “He’s been wrong on about everything for 40 years.”

Graham concluded by expressing why it’s so critical Republicans take back power.

“Radical Islam is on the rise and raging in Afghanistan, and you have an open southern border,” he said. “If something doesn’t change, 2022 could be the most dangerous year for America since 1939 and the world at large.”
