UHV’s Jackie Longoria was named the Red River Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week and Emily Flores was recognized as RRAC Player of the Week for March 25-31.

Both players were instrumental in helping the 15th-ranked Jaguars sweep a three-game conference series this weekend over No. 20 LSU-Alexandria to remain undefeated in conference play and extend the team’s winning streak to 17 games.

Longoria, a sophomore from Edinburg North High School, shut down the Generals’ offense in two games, earning a win and a save. She pitched 2.2 innings in Game 2, allowing no runs on two hits to earn her third save of the season in a 4-3 victory.

She pitched 4.2 innings in Game 3, allowing no runs on two hits and a walk.

LSUA batters hit just 0.174 against her in two games as she earned her third win of the season. She has a 1.56 ERA on the season and has allowed just nine runs in 31.1 innings.

Flores, a junior from Houston and a Ridge Point High School graduate, set the tone for the Jaguars’ offense early in Game 1 with a three-run homer as she drove in the winning run in each of the first two games.

She compiled a 0.364 batting average with a 0.636 slugging percentage in the three games and finished with a 0.417 on-base percentage.
