Permit Parking

WHERE SHOULD I PARK?

Parking maps for the University are available online.

We are updating the Parking Map to reflect changes in parking for the 2023-24 academic year.

For the protection of students, faculty, staff and postdocs, no parking is allowed at anytime, anywhere on campus, without a valid Vanderbilt University registration permit, except by visitors in spaces designated for visitors. University parking lots are identified by annual, daily, undergraduate, or reserved-spaces designations. Vehicles may park only in areas that correspond to their affiliation with the university, subject to the exceptions delineated in the University Parking Regulations.

We will continue to offer annual parking permits for the 2023-24 academic year.  Current parking permits expire on Aug. 31, and vehicle registration for the new year will open for each type of community member in August per the information below.  Annual permit parking for the 2023-24 academic year starts Sept. 1.

Faculty, Staff, Postdocs and Graduate and Professional students:

Individuals with annual permits will be able to park in any non- reserved parking space in an annual permit lot on campus. View all available lots on the parking map

Undergraduate Students:

We will open vehicle permit registration for undergrad students on Tuesday, Aug. 8.  Students may log in online with their VUnet ID and password to register their vehicle for the 2023-24 academic year and purchase a permit.  Juniors and Seniors will be able to purchase semester/annual permits beginning at midnight.  Sophomore and Reserved permits will not be available online until 9:00 AM Central time.

Rates and Locations

Academic Year Parking Permits for sophomores, juniors and seniors - whether they are residing on campus or off campus - will be $816 per academic year.  Sophomore spots are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.  Once these spots are sold out, a waiting list is created in the event a space becomes available and you will be notified via email if this is the case.

Semester Permits:  Students (Juniors and Seniors) wishing to park on campus for one semester only (fall, spring or summer) also have the option to purchase a one-time semester undergraduate permit for $272 each.

Reserved Parking: Students will be able to register online for reserved parking in Kensington Avenue Garage and Kissam Garage.  The parking rate for a reserved space is $2,272 per academic year.  It will be charged in total at the beginning of the year and can be paid through the student's account or credit card.  Reserved spaces are first come, first served.

A marginal annual parking rate increase for 2023-2024 will ensure that Vanderbilt's parking program remains self-sufficient and operating costs are covered, including debt payments on garages, maintenance costs on all parking facilities and spaces, and the personnel to manage and enforce parking on campus.  Program enhancements under MoveVU, the university's mobility and transportation strategic plan, are also covered in part by the parking program.
