Awards

Many fellowships require applicants to obtain institutional nominations or endorsement from Vanderbilt. For these awards, the Fellowships Team establishes a Priority Campus Deadline weeks or months before the funding organization’s (inter)national submission deadline.

Students, postdocs and alumni interested in obtaining Vanderbilt’s institutional endorsement or nomination for the following awards are required to participate in campus review processes and to meet applicable priority deadlines.

Potential nominees must attend either an Infosession or “Exploring Fellowships” Office Hours and complete the Fellowships Interest Form* prior to priority deadlines.  Contact the Fellowships Team at fellowships@vanderbilt.edu to request current Interest Form and award-specific preapplication links and process documents and timelines.

Postgraduate award applicants who meet Priority Deadlines will also be added to a BrightSpace course with additional information and timelines.

STUDENTS & ALUMNI CAN REVIEW OPEN COMPETITIONS IN THE INFOREADY PORTAL.

The Fellowships Team maintains significant resources for many awards that do not require Vanderbilt endorsement or nomination. Applicants seeking support with any application for awards listed below should request assistance from the Fellowships and/or GPS Teams at least 6 weeks prior to Priority Deadlines listed above—or the (inter)national deadlines for other doctoral or postdoctoral awards.

This process permits applicants to receive multiple rounds of feedback on application components—and ensures that applicants provide adequate time (minimum 4-6 weeks’ lead time) for recommenders to craft strong references on your behalf.

** This includes applicants pursuing other awards that support: dissertation research, postdoctoral research; DAAD short-term programs, UAS7 study and/or internship programs; Princeton in Africa/Asia/Latin America/MENAR; Udall Graduate + Internship, Erasmus Mundus, Marie Curie and related programs with multiple deadlines or cycles.**
