Textbooks and learning materials at no cost to you
With textbooks costs averaging about $140 per course, we're always looking for ways to save your budget! Trine Online offers more than 45 courses and two degrees that offer learning materials at no cost to you, and we're continuing to add even more!
One of the ways we provide free learning materials is through Open Educational Resources (OER). These are openly licensed assets used for teaching and learning. According to OERdegrees.org, research has found that using OER materials instead of commercial textbooks results in improved completion rates and better grades for students.
Courses with Free Books
TrineOnline offers more than 45 courses that feature OERs. When you register for classes, ask your academic advisor about OER course options and how to identify what courses are OER.
Degrees with Free Books
Z degrees are the national designation for programs that use other resources that work as well as expensive printed materials. These degrees allow you to complete them without paying for textbooks in their core courses or a large portion of your degree coursework.
The core courses for Z degrees utilize OERs, library databases and faculty-developed content and/or zero-cost resources.
