To earn the rank, a Boy Scout must earn a minimum of 21 merit badges (Walley earned 35) as well as develop and complete a leadership project that benefits the community or nonprofit organization; and undergo an interview called Board of Review, according to a press release.
Walley also earned the Bronze and Gold Eagle Palms after he attained his Eagle rank.
Walley led and managed other scouts, friends and family members to create a butterfly garden enhancing the environment at Auburn Manor Nursing home, with direction from Recreation Director Amy Myers.
Walley began his scouting career when he joined Cub Scouts Pack 301 as a first-grade Tiger Cub in 2008 and has been active ever since. He worked his way up the cub scouting ranks, becoming a Boy Scout after earning his Arrow of Light award in 2012.
Upon joining Troop 174, Walley held several leadership positions within the troop, including assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader at Many Point Scout Camp.
Walley earned his World Conservation award, and medals for the Light of Christ and Parvuli dei religious emblems which included the religious square knot.
In 2015, Walley was elected by his peers into the Order of the Arrow, according to a press release. The honor is based on exemplary leadership, service and camping qualities set forth by the Boy Scouts of America.
Walley is a senior at Chaska High School. He is the son of Roger and Denita Walley; and brother of Brennen and Adam Walley also Eagle Scouts from Troop 174.
This fall, Walley will attend the University of Wisconsin-Stout, majoring in construction management.
