The convention will utilize the Whova App for program information in addition to issuing announcements throughout the convention.

Call for Proposals

The Call for Proposals is now closed.
We will host Research Presentations, Regular Sessions, Interactive/Hands-on Workshops, Poster Sessions, and a Three-Minute Thesis format (more details on session types below).


If you have any questions about the proposal process or the presentation schedule, please contact: [email protected].

  • Research Session (25 or 50 minutes): This session is designed for the presentation of a research project or study. Audience members will have time at the end of a presentation to ask questions of the presenter.
  • Regular Session (25 or 50 minutes):  This session is designed to present information on projects, course innovations, program innovations, or other science and mathematics initiatives. Audience members will have time at the end of a presentation to ask questions of the presenter.
  • Workshop Session (75 minutes):  This session is designed to engage participants in an interactive environment to explore mathematics, science, STEM research, projects, or initiatives.
  • Poster Sessions:  Present your research study, course innovation or another project. The poster session will last 90 minutes and consist of many presenters. Poster sessions allow attendees to speak will the presenters on a one-to-one basis.
  • Three-Minute Thesis:  Present your research and its significance in three minutes. This session is great for graduate students and other researchers who want to engage the audience in a compelling oration of their research in 180 seconds.
Speaker Proposal Acceptance Decision: April 30, 2023.
SSMA Annual Convention Proceedings:  The deadline for Proceedings submissions is August 1, 2023.  Proceedings format requirements can be found HERE.
