Ace Hardware Fundraiser February 9 - 14
Next week is a great time to get all your spring gardening and hardware needs at Ace Hardware! The Silver Spring and Takoma Park Ace Hardware stores are partnering with SSIMS and SCES to support the schoolsâ Outdoor Classroom. From Wednesday, February 9, through Sunday, February 14, all customers at both stores will be asked to round up their sales totals to the next-highest dollar, in order to give the extra change to the schools to buy much-needed equipment for instruction in the Outdoor Classroom.
Please shop at the Takoma Park and Silver Spring Ace Hardware stores between February 9 and February 14, and please forward this information to your neighbors! When you shop, please let the store staff know that you appreciate their support!
SSIMS NAACP Parent Council Family Survey
Greetings SSIMS Families,
Iâm Cecily Darden Adams, a 7th grade Mom at Silver Spring International (SSIMS) and the NAACP Parent Council representative. The pandemic has changed what it means for our families to partner with our school communities, so we want to hear from you! Is there anything you think the SSIMS community should know about what partnering with school has been like for you? How do you think our families can best work together with SSIMS going forward?
Please complete this short survey. I will share the overall survey results with the SSIMS community. Donât worry, I will not share anything that connects your response to you.

Click on the name of your student's high school for information about virtual office hours.

Attention all 7th and 8th grade parents:
Online Registration for boys' and girls' Soccer starts Monday February 7th. Registration can be done through the Parent Vue on Synergy. All required forms must be downloaded on the Parent Vue Synergy site including proof of Vaccination and Doctorâs physical. The first day of try-outs will be Tuesday March 8th. Any questions please reach out to Mr. Adam Seidman, Athletic Coordinator at email: Adam_E_Seidman@mcpsmd.org
Early Dismissals
When coming to pick up your child early for medical or dental appointments or pre-planned travel, please send a written note or email to David Hagberg, Attendance Secretary, in the schoolâs main office. We will give your child a pass to come down 5 minutes earlier than the stated pick up time so that he/she will be waiting for you in the main office. Please remember also to bring your ID for verification before releasing your child.
Reminder: Wayne Ave Lower Parking Lot & Loop Safety
We have noticed that there has been some unsafe traffic practices and we wanted to remind our community about traffic expectations to ensure all students' safety during pick up and drop off. Please see below for our traffic expectations.
- Keep moving: Refrain from stopping at the base of the staircase. Instead, pick up your child in the loop at the left end of the parking lot.
- Please do not block the entrance/exit with your vehicle.
- Pack your patience! This lot is narrow and requires your attention to navigate it safely; especially when children are walking through it.
- At no time should you stop on Wayne Ave to pick up or drop off your student.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to student safety.
