It was a celebration of excellence this past week as we celebrated our annual Top 25 Ceremony. This year, there were so many students in the upper weighted grade point averages that 25 was expanded to 40. You can see the TOP 25 Presentation HERE.
Spring athletics competition will officially begin this Monday. You can see the full schedule in the newsletter. As a reminder, spectators and athletes should adhere to MCPS R.A.I.S.E standards of sportsmanship. That is the Clarksburg Way.

MCPS Seven Things to Know - 3/17/22
Here are seven things to know for Thursday, March 17. They include important COVID-19 reminders, information about mental health and crisis resources, a reminder to complete the Antiracist Audit survey, Prekindergarten and Head Start registration, information about the upcoming RespectFest event and opportunities for activities available during upcoming out-of-school time.
Remain Vigilant: The COVID-19 Pandemic is Not Over
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identifies Montgomery County as low in terms of community level of COVID-19. This is due to high levels of vaccination, testing and other mitigation efforts in schools and across the county. The numbers of positive cases have dropped regularly over the past few weeks since the COVID-19 Omicron variant surge. Despite this, we must remain vigilant as the pandemic is not over.
COVID-19 Testing and Vaccinations Remain Important
Vaccinations: Individuals 5 and older are eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccination. They are free, safe and readily available. The vaccine is one of the most important steps you can take to protect yourself and to keep COVID-19 from surging in the community. Learn more.
Testing in Schools: MCPS has in-school random testing for asymptomatic students and rapid testing for students who show symptoms. Parents must give permission for this testing by completing this form. Learn more about in-school COVID-19 testing.
Testing at Home: MCPS continues to distribute rapid COVID-19 test kits to all students and staff every three weeks through March. The next distribution is planned for the week of March 21. To help you use the tests correctly and to know when to use them, we provide the following resources:
VIDEO: Directions for use of COVID-19 rapid test kit
Learn more at this website and review the flyers:
English / español / 中文 / français / Português / 한국어 / tiếng Việt / አማርኛ
(Reminder: these are nasal (nose) rapid test kits; please refer to the directions included in the kits prior to use.)
- Masks: On or Off, It is Just Me
Masks have been optional in MCPS schools and facilities since March 8. It is understandable that some welcome the new mask policy, while others continue to worry about this change. On or Off, It’s Just Me is a reminder that wearing masks is an individual choice and we must respect each other's choices.
MCPS promotes acceptance of masking choices by promoting this message through posters, flyers and other important resources.
Complete the Antiracist Audit Survey by March 31
We encourage you to fill out the survey, which is open until March 31. You can use your mobile device or computer. Learn more about the MCPS Antiracist Audit here. The survey is anonymous and available in seven languages.
Family letter in all languages
English / español / 中文 / français / Português / 한국어 / tiếng Việt / አማርኛ
Prekindergarten/Head Start Registration Now Open
Registration is open for Prekindergarten and Head Start for the 2022-2023 school year. Children must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2022, and families must be income-eligible to apply. Families can register their children online. Additionally, weekday and weekend locations are open through March 31 for families that want to register in person. For more information about eligibility guidelines, required documents and how to register, call 240-740-4530 or visit the MCPS website.
RespectFest to Discuss Teen Dating Violence and Prevention
Choose Respect Montgomery's annual event, RespectFest, will hold a week of online activities from March 21-27, culminating in an in-person event from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 27 at the Wheaton Community Recreation Center. Students and parents will learn about dating violence and prevention. Students can earn Student Service Learning hours. Learn more
Mental Health and Crisis Support Resources Online
MCPS has direct online information and links to support students and families seeking mental health and crisis support resources. Every school has a student support team that includes a counselor, a school psychologist, a pupil personnel worker and a school nurse.
Resources:
Student Psychological Services (Guide to School Psychologists Español | Français | 中文 | tiếng Việt | 한국어 | አማርኛ)
Are You Looking for Things to Do When School is Not in Session?
MCPS has gathered a list of in-person, live and on-demand opportunities that are available to elementary and secondary students on days when school is not in session.
Some of these activities are not affiliated with MCPS. If you are interested in any of those programs offered, please contact those organizations directly.
Door Dash, Grub Hub, and Other Food Deliveries
As a reminder, Students have limited options for lunch, including cafeteria served hot meals, which are free everyday, or to bring their own lunch. Delivery drivers are turned away at the school and when necessary, the food is confiscated and returned at the end of the school day.
All visitors to the school, even those attempting to deliver food, must use the main entrance only. Please discourage your students from attempting to have food delivered at other doors around the building. This creates a significant safety and security concern for your student and our school. Violations of this create a drain on resources and at times have caused such alarm that we have had to engage additional security and the police. Please help us continue to focus on the safety and security needs of the school by not ordering these meals to the school and by discouraging your child from ordering from a delivery service.
Important Reminders from our Attendance Office
Please review these important attendance reminders:
- If a student is late to school for any reason they must stop by the attendance office to sign in. This also applies if a student needs to sign out early with parent permission or parent pick up. An accurate sign-in/out time must be recorded in the system. (Please note: If a student does not stop by the attendance office then anything that the student is marked absent for will stay in the system).
- Please make sure whoever is signing the student out is on their emergency pick-up contact list in Parent VUE & is at least 21 years of age.
- Any notice sent for a student to sign out early must be submitted in writing.
Also, please remember that all parents/guardians and visitors are required to show ID upon entering our building.
All Means All and the Important Work of Access and Opportunity for All Students
MCPS Antiracist System Survey Reminder!
Dear MCPS Families,
We need your help to better understand how our schools and the school district are doing as part of our ongoing work to address racial and systemic barriers in Montgomery County Public Schools.
We encourage you to fill out this survey before March 31. You can use your mobile device or computer. The survey is part of a larger process called the MCPS Antiracist System Audit. You can learn more about the audit here.
The survey, which is anonymous and available in seven languages, will ask you about your family’s experiences with your child’s school and MCPS. The goal of the survey is for us to better understand how racism affects teaching, learning and parent engagement.
Students in grades 4 through 12 will also take an age-appropriate, anonymous version of the survey in class between March 1 and March 31. Clarksburg HS students took the survey on March 1.
Key information about the surveys and audit:
Parents, students and staff from these organizations were actively involved in providing input and feedback on the survey questions. Sample questions and more information about the surveys can be found here.
A report will be sent to MCPS by the end of June. The report will provide results for MCPS as a whole and by each school.
MCPS will communicate the report’s findings to the community.
This website will provide updates.
Find more answers to your questions here.
STUDENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES & STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT
In order to ensure a safe, productive, and positive learning environment, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) publishes two documents that help students, parents, and staff and understand school rules and regulations; the expectations for student conduct; and the possible consequences for violating the rules.
A Student’s Guide to Rights and Responsibilities is an overview of the rights and responsibilities students enjoy in MCPS and a summary of the laws and regulations that affect students.
The MCPS Student Code of Conduct provides an overview of discipline procedures and protocols and the range of consequences students could face for violating various policies, regulations, and rules. The guide also discusses the MCPS philosophy to discipline and defines the various disciplinary responses.
All MCPS families have received a copy of these documents. Students were provided copies in their English Classes. Parents and guardians are encouraged to review this document with children so that our students understand their rights and responsibilities and the district’s expectations for student conduct. If you have questions, please speak to the Clarksburg Administration.
Ways To Report
Bullying, harassment (including sexual misconduct and sexual harassment), intimidation, hazing, incidents of hate-bias, and concerning issues involving student gender identity are not tolerated in MCPS. We are committed to ensuring our students feel safe, valued, and respected in our schools. Please see the multiple ways you can file a report below.

Return to RAISE Communication 3.9.22
Please refer to the March 9 update for the latest information regarding MCPS Athletics. A Spanish version is also available. The updated Return to R.A.I.S.E. Plan is here.
Key updates:
- As communicated yesterday, the wearing of masks/face coverings is optional for all individuals across the program, including student-athletes, coaches, officials, spectators, and event personnel. This also includes on school buses. This guidance is effective immediately. Consistent with the MCPS community message and expectations during the school day, all individuals are expected to respect personal decisions regarding the wearing of masks.
- The Return to R.A.I.S.E. Plan includes significant updates, due to updated national, state and county guidance, along with lower transmission levels of COVID-19.
- Similarly, Spectator and Game-Day Guidelines have been updated for the spring season to reflect updated guidance. GoFan digital ticketing will continue to be used across the program. Spectators are expected to demonstrate behaviors consistent with the R.A.I.S.E. core values of MCPS Athletics. Spectators who do not comply with MCPS expectations will be asked to leave the premises and may be banned from attending future events.
- The R.A.I.S.E. Reimagined Plan was updated for the spring season.
- The winter season comes to a close this week, with the state basketball semifinals and finals. More information can be found on the MPSSAA Basketball State Championship Central website. Good luck to the remaining MCPS teams in the tournament – congratulations to the Clarksburg Girls’ Basketball team for advancing to the 4A State Championship Game on Friday night at 8:00 at the Xfinity Center!
Note – The COVID-19 Task Force will now transition to meeting on an as-needed basis. Additionally, communications and updates will be released as necessary to reflect updated guidance. The latest information will continue to be available on the COVID-19 Athletics Information webpage.
