Mindset Matters: Leading with Relationships, Grace and Respect
This is Mr. Santana, Principal of Glades Middle School, with your weekly Cougar Connection. This has been quite the week to say the least! Hoping that you and your family stayed safe during the storm. Please reach out to us if you are in need of any support as we are a Glades Cougar Family.
Can we give a Cougar ROAR to our ONE and ONLY AMAZING PTSA for sponsoring Donuts with Dad today!!! We had an overwhelming turnout and could not have celebrated this initiative without their support. Also, a THANK YOU to Mrs. VanValkenburg and her Choir along with Mrs. Moser and her Peer Counseling volunteers for ensuring that everyone felt welcomed. Go Cougars!
Please see the calendar events for the upcoming week below.
Remember to follow us on Twitter @Glades_MS. The future continues to be bright as we Re-Imagine Glades Middle School with Pride, Passion, and Purpose.

Social Emotional Learning Survey
Starting October 10th through the 24th, all students in grades 4 -12 will have an opportunity in Broward schools to participate in the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) student survey by rethink Ed. The purpose is to identify skills needed in life that foster and build confidence and support mental and emotional health, and enable students to overcome challenges and thrive as they prepare for the 21st century workplace. Parents do have the opportunity to opt their child out of this 45 question/20 minute survey by completing an electronic opt-out submission found below. Submissions will be accepted until October 3, 2022.
Tasty Tuesdays
PTSA Concessions are coming back! Tasty Tuesdays and Thursdays will begin on Tuesday, September 20th. Students can purchase chips, candy, sodas, pizza, etc. after school. We can't wait to see them there!
Our School Advisory Council needs you!
We have two available parent representative positions that we are looking to fill: I-Zone parent rep and School Advisory Forum chairperson.
Innovation Zones (I-Zones) are organized school communities that work to collaborate on academic and community initiatives.
Our I-Zone parent representative will need to make a commitment to attend monthly I-Zone meetings in order to bring back information to our SAC committee.
The School Advisory Forum(SAF) fosters and promote communication between its stakeholders, the school, and the Area Advisory Council. The SAF shall bring forth recommendations, concerns and interests to and from their Area Advisory Council.
Our SAF chairperson will need to make a commitment to attend a General Meeting on the third Wednesday of each month (excluding December) at McArthur High School at 9am.
If interested in serving as our school’s I-Zone or School Advisory Forum (SAF) chair, please send an email to Stephanie.Mentore@browardschools.com.
