Continuing the Legacy...Strong Alone, Unstoppable Together
Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
As our calendar year closes, I pause to reflect and celebrate all the amazing things going on at Woodbridge! Our dedicated staff continue to work together to help every student reach their full potential. The PTA Color Run Fundraiser is exceeding our goals! Community businesses such as Marco’s Pizza and Publix have donated food for students and staff. Feeding Tampa Bay and The National Dairy Council have partnered together which will allow additional equipment for perishable products to be added to our Food Pantry. Additionally, new paint and Tampa Bay Buccaneers branding in the Food Pantry will highlight our Fuel Up to Play 60 healthy school initiative. The hard working volunteers at Bay Hope Church assist in organizing and distributing the Food Pantry Drive Ups twice each month and donated lunch for our staff recently. Thank you to everyone who participated in our Great American Teach In. As always, your continued support of what we do at Woodbridge is valued and appreciated. Enjoy family and friends throughout the winter break! Students return on January 4, 2022.

Attendance Matters!
Every year, absences spike in the weeks before and after winter break. We know it’s tempting to extend your vacation by a few days on either side of the holiday, but Just a few missed days here and there, even if they’re excused absences, can add up to too much lost learning time and put your child behind in school. So make sure your child is in school every day, right up until vacation starts. Our teachers will be teaching, and our students will be learning. But it’s harder to teach and it’s harder to learn when too many students are absent. This holiday season, the best gift you can give your child is a good education. And the best place to get that education is in school. Every day. On time.
Woodbridge Elementary had an overall attendance of 90.49% for the month of November, with 3rd grade for having the highest attendance percentage amongst all the grade levels with 92.66%. Let’s all work together to continue to progress to the district goal of 96% overall attendance. If you need any help or resources to help with attendance, please reach out to Woodbridge’s school social worker, Jovan Pagan.
Below is the full breakdown for grade level attendance percentages:

Healthy School Initiative
Partners Joining Together for Change Fuel Up to Play 60 is led by the National Dairy Council (NDC) and the National Football League (NFL) with support from many other national associations to lead the change for healthy children and school environments. The NDC provides science-based nutrition information and educational materials. The program uses the star power of the NFL clubs, players and physical activity programming to add recognition and value to the initiative and entice students to participate.
What is Fuel Up to Play 60?
Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP 60) is an in-school physical activity and nutrition program created by the National Dairy Council (NDC) and the National Football League (NFL). The program encourages youth to consume low-fat and fat-free dairy, fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and whole grains while achieving at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day.
Why Should You Join the Movement?
· The proof is in the brain! Research shows how proper physical activity and nutrition directly impact students’ learning. Students that start their day with breakfast are tardy and absent less often have improved math scores, fewer trips to the nurse’s office and less behavioral problems.
· Youth spend 180 days each year and school and consume about 50 percent of their daily intact there. School can be a place where health habits can be taught and encouraged.
· This program is designed to lead wellness in their school. Students tend to learn and be more apt to participate when the message is coming from their peers. This also takes the pressure off staff that have many responsibilities already.
· FUTP 60 is meant to complement wellness initiatives currently going on in your school.
