Eagles' News from the Lake
Weeks of March 24 & April 1 2024
Principal's Message
Dear Lakewood Community,
I hope this message finds you all in good spirits as we begin Spring Break and look forward to the start of April. This week's newsletter is filled with updates and important reminders, so let's dive right in.
Spring Break Wishes:
As we begin our well-deserved Spring Break, I want to take a moment to wish each and every one of you a fantastic time filled with relaxation, joy, and cherished moments with loved ones. Whether you're traveling or enjoying a staycation, I hope this break rejuvenates you for the remainder of the school year.
Autism Awareness Month:
April marks Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month, and our school is committed to celebrating the unique strengths and talents of individuals on the autism spectrum. Lakewood Elementary is committed to promote understanding, acceptance, and inclusion. Our purpose is clear: to create a world where autistic people are embraced, celebrated and recognized for their unique contributions and have the opportunities they need to reach their full potential. United we stand, stronger in numbers. Be fearless and stand with us and Autism Speaks alongside the autism community. Pledge now to #ActFearlessly.
PTA News:
Don't forget to mark your calendars for our upcoming PTA virtual meeting on April 2nd, the day we return from spring break. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow parents, learn about upcoming events and initiatives, and contribute your ideas to help enhance our school community. Planet Aid
Please donate your gently used clothing and shoes. You will see the yellow bin near our entrance to the parking lot. This is a positive way to contribute to the environment and community. Partnering with Planet Aid makes it all so easy! Lakewood earns 10 cents per pound and will use this money for scholars and staff. Planet Aid accepts clothing, shoes, and other textiles (for example, bedding, towels, and curtains). This means that there is no need to separate items based on their condition. Even items that are stained, torn, or frayed can be recycled, so drop off your worn-out items, too! The only articles of clothing we cannot accept are those that are dirty, wet, or moldy.Thank you in advance.
