The Time is NOW - AP Course Registration!
Hello 2022-2023 AP Students and Caregivers,
Congratulations on taking an AP course this year! We applaud your commitment to challenging yourself with college-level learning. The opportunity to earn college credit in an AP course is acquired by taking the AP Exam associated with the course and is dependent on the AP exam score and specific college requirements. Exams for the AP courses are scheduled to be administered in schools via pencil and paper and held during the first two weeks in May. Please see below for details about registering.
AP Exam Enrollment - First, you need to have a College Board (CB) Account! With this, students can access PSAT, SAT, and AP scores online and have them sent to colleges. Some students may already be registered.
If you already have one, please do not create a 2nd account.Your same CB account login is used for PSAT, SAT and AP, so if you have ever created an account for one of these, you’ve done step one!
If you are new to AP and CB, you can create your account at https://myap.collegeboard.org/login.
Once students have an account, they will be given a “join code” from their AP teachers where they can join their teacher’s AP Classroom. Once a student enters the join code, they are automatically registered for that AP exam. CLICK HERE for step-by-step instructions on how to login. CLICK HERE for instructions on how to register for the exam.
AP Exam Fees –
Each exam costs $101.00, which can be divided into two payments:
$40 deposit per exam is due by Monday, November 14, 2022.
Remaining balance of $61 must be paid by Monday, April 24, 2023.
College Board LATE FEE for any exam ordered after November 14: $40 (in addition to $101)
CANCELLATION FEE after November 14: $40 (money paid above the $40 will be refunded)
Students that do not pay the $40 exam deposit by November 14th will have their registration canceled and an exam will not be ordered for them.
Reduced fees are available to families with financial need. Families requesting financial assistance with exam fees must fill out the Fee Waiver request form. The reduced fee is $16.00. If families do not meet the criteria but do still need financial assistance from MCPS for exam fees, please email Samantha_Calarusse@mcpsmd.org.
Payments
All payments can be made by either cash, check, money order, or by credit card using the School Cash Online (SCO). Please refer to these directions HERE for help with SCO; if you need assistance obtaining the “PIN” number to log into SCO, please email Tara_K_Owens@mcpsmd.org, School Financial Specialist. PSTA Note - October 23, 2022
“I am not afraid of storms for I am learning how to sail my ship.” –Louisa May Alcott
Dear Clarksburg High School Families:
Thank you so very much for attending our second PTSA Meeting! Welcome, Loren, to our PTSA Board as our new Delegate! A huge thank you to Kenny Sholes for sharing his knowledge and his expertise with us around College Admissions 101! We really loved hearing the robust discussion that took place after his presentation and after our meeting!
As the end of the first quarter is near, we want to share the importance of reaching out and asking for help. Asking for help or assistance does not mean we are weak, un-intelligent, or incapable. Understanding our own weaknesses is the first step towards strengthening ourselves. Reaching out for support is the next progressive step in our own development.
We do not live on an island.
Whether we are struggling in a class or a sport or anything else, please know there are people around who care and who are eager to assist.
We are all ONE Coyote family.
Let us know how we can assist you. Let us have the chance to lend our hands of support.
Here are a few of our Notes for the week:

Community Message: Letter from Superintendent Dr. Monifa B. McKnight Concerning Updated Safety Protocols and Communication
Dear MCPS Families,
I am writing to update you on our school district’s safety and security protocols, and our ongoing efforts to communicate about emergency situations.
MCPS principals and assistant principals have been participating in updated safety and security protocol training. These same updates have been communicated to all school staff members, so that consistent safety procedures are used and understood across the district. As we continue to evaluate our processes and work together, schools will contact families about any revised procedures so that you know what to expect and when to expect it during an emergency situation. In November, principals will share information with PTAs and other community groups about safety and security protocols.

Holiday Giving Project 2022
The Holiday Giving Project has provided Thanksgiving and December holiday assistance to families in need for over 30 years. A network of social workers, school counselors, and human service professionals refer families in need of assistance.
If you and your family are in need and would like to be referred for possible assistance for the holiday season, please fill out this referral or contact your child’s school counselor. While a referral is not a guarantee of assistance, the Project helps as many families in need as donations allow.

Death in the immediate family
Certified illness of the student
Court summons
Work or activity accepted by school authorities
Observance of religious holiday
Quarantine
Physical and mental incapacity
Violent storms
State emergency
As we prepare for the start of school, we wanted to share some important information and updates on attendance procedures. This year we will be providing an online option for reporting student absences. Parents and/or Caregivers of students will use a google form to report a student absence and submit attendances notes. Upon completion of this form, the attendance secretary will review each submission and will follow up to confirm absence. The form can be located here as well as on the Clarksburg High School Website under Attendance Procedures.
Please reference the following resources for our attendance policies:
- Clarksburg High School Attendance Policy: attendance policy

WE ARE ALL WINNERS WHEN WE SHOW RESPECT AT MCPS ATHLETIC EVENTS
WE ARE ALL WINNERS
WHEN WE SHOW RESPECT
AT MCPS ATHLETIC EVENTS
SEPTEMBER 16, 2022
Dear MCPS Families,
As we enter the exciting time of year known as homecoming we write with a reminder of the importance of demonstrating respect by all spectators attending MCPS athletic events. The R.A.I.S.E. core values of the school district athletics program teach and reinforce respect and sportsmanship, academic excellence, integrity and character, spirited and safe competition, and equity and access. When you attend an MCPS sporting event you are enjoying an exhibition of skills developed by student-athletes in an educational setting. Being in the stands or on the sidelines is just like being in the classroom; respect for your fellow spectators, student-athletes, coaches and referees is the expectation.
You can support these expectations by following these simple guidelines.
- Applaud all student-athletes for their efforts.
- Accept the decisions of officials and coaches.
- Appreciate all participants for their commitment.
- Support school personnel in conducting a spirited and safe contest.
- Maintain composure when something seems to go against your team.
- Respect the rights of other spectators.
- Reward sportsmanlike behavior through cheering.
- Focus attention on the positive aspects of competition.
- Encourage student-athletes by showing enthusiasm and positive recognition. and…
- Demonstrate concern for the safety and welfare of student-athletes and each other
Also, please comply with our spectator expectations:
- Tickets are purchased through GoFan. Spectators are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance. General admission is $5.00, which includes convenience fee.
- Students should bring their student ID, in order to verify their enrollment
- Middle school students must purchase a ticket and be accompanied by a paying adult or will not be able to attend the event
- Elementary students (10 and under) are admitted free with a paying adult
- Senior citizens over the age of 62 are admitted free
Be Loud, Be Proud, Be Positive!
We’ll see you at the game.

Guide to Rights and Responsibilities
In order to ensure a safe, productive, and positive learning environment, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) publishes two documents that help students, parents, and staff and understand school rules and regulations; the expectations for student conduct; and the possible consequences for violating the rules.
A Student’s Guide to Rights and Responsibilities is an overview of the rights and responsibilities students enjoy in MCPS and a summary of the laws and regulations that affect students.
The MCPS Student Code of Conduct provides an overview of discipline procedures and protocols and the range of consequences students could face for violating various policies, regulations, and rules. The guide also discusses the MCPS philosophy to discipline and defines the various disciplinary responses.
