Clarksburg High School Students, Staff, and Families,
This week is a full 5 day week and we are proud to continue celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with activities and information all week. (Please click this link to see our weekly newsletter.)
Reminder: All SSL forms for service completed after June 1, 2022, should be submitted to the school’s SSL coordinator, Ms. Coe, by the due date of September 23, 2022.
Montgomery County Public Schools in collaboration with Montgomery County State’s Attorney's Office and the Montgomery County Police Department, are partnering to educate high school students about how to keep schools and students safe from guns and gun violence. (See MCPS Announcement HERE)
Through scheduled high school assemblies throughout the fall of 2022, students will be provided with information on the law and consequences if broken, strategies for youth to solve problems without weapons or violence, and the importance of vigilance and a “see something, say something” approach. The assemblies will also offer information on how to recognize signs that someone may choose violence to harm themselves or others, the anonymous Maryland Tip Line and the importance of a violence-free community.
The Clarksburg Assembly will be held Friday, September 23.
The Spirit of Clarksburg has its first marching band competition of the season coming up on Saturday 9/24 at Severna Park HS. The competition starts at 5:30pm, and the Spirit of Clarksburg performs at 7:15pm. Tickets are available at the gate for $10. Wear your CHS spiritwear!
Have you applied for Free School Meals? There's a great program called Ready for School Initiative and they offer $40 for school supplies when Montgomery County Public Schools families complete the FARMS application form.
We are excited to announce the Hispanic College Fair will take place at Bohrer Park on Thursday, October 13, 2022! This event is primarily for 11th and 12th grade students who identify as hispanic, but all juniors and seniors are welcome to come. Look for information this week from the College and Career Center. (Flyers both in English and Spanish: Hispanic College Fair Materials and Flyers - Google Drive)
As we enter the exciting time of year known as homecoming we write with a reminder of the importance of demonstrating respect by all spectators attending MCPS athletic events. The R.A.I.S.E. core values of the school district athletics program teach and reinforce respect and sportsmanship, academic excellence, integrity and character, spirited and safe competition, and equity and access. When you attend an MCPS sporting event you are enjoying an exhibition of skills developed by student-athletes in an educational setting. Being in the stands or on the sidelines is just like being in the classroom; respect for your fellow spectators, student-athletes, coaches and referees is the expectation.

Revised Personal Mobile Device Policy in Place for MCPS Students

It remains important that staff and families continue to report positive cases of COVID-19 via this online form. An updated isolation calculator can help you understand when it is OK to return to work or school.Updated COVID-19 Boosters Are Now Available
Recently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) endorsed updated COVID-19 booster vaccines. The vaccines are bivalent, which means they include protection against both the original SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19, and currently circulating strains of the Omicron variant (BA-4 and BA-5). Anyone older than 12 who is vaccinated against COVID-19 can receive a booster. The Pfizer vaccine is authorized for ages 12 years and older. The Moderna vaccine is authorized for ages 18 years and older. Both booster vaccines must be given after an initial vaccine series, and can be given eight weeks after the last received dose of vaccine or booster.
Where you can find these vaccines:
The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services is now offering updated bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccines. This is now the only booster available for ages 12+ at county-sponsored clinics, including school-based clinics. Appointments are recommended. Maryland's Vaccine Locator provides information on pharmacies and other locations offering booster appointments and a helpful FAQ on the new boosters.GOOD NEWS: Watch Exciting Stories of Two MCPS Employees

C'BURG Attendance Policy
Academic success begins with excellent attendance. Therefore, special attention will be paid to the issue of attendance and punctuality. We expect every student to be in school every day except for the legitimate reasons defined by Maryland State law and listed below:
Death in the immediate family
Certified illness of the student
Court summons
Work or activity accepted by school authorities
Observance of religious holiday

Physical and mental incapacity
Violent storms
State emergency
As we prepare for the start of school, we wanted to share some important information and updates on attendance procedures. This year we will be providing an online option for reporting student absences. Parents and/or Caregivers of students will use a google form to report a student absence and submit attendances notes. Upon completion of this form, the attendance secretary will review each submission and will follow up to confirm absence. The form can be located here as well as on the Clarksburg High School Website under Attendance Procedures.
Please reference the following resources for our attendance policies:
- Clarksburg High School Attendance Policy: attendance policy
- Montgomery County Attendance Regulations can be found here: county regulations
This year we are focusing on Be Present 182, a charge to have all students in all classes on time every day.
If you have any questions please reach out to Ms. Lindsay Cao, Assistant Principal or Ms. Elida Pineda, Attendance Secretary.

WE ARE ALL WINNERS WHEN WE SHOW RESPECT AT MCPS ATHLETIC EVENTS
WE ARE ALL WINNERS
WHEN WE SHOW RESPECT
AT MCPS ATHLETIC EVENTS
SEPTEMBER 16, 2022
Dear MCPS Families,
As we enter the exciting time of year known as homecoming we write with a reminder of the importance of demonstrating respect by all spectators attending MCPS athletic events.
You can support these expectations by following these simple guidelines.
- Applaud all student-athletes for their efforts.
- Accept the decisions of officials and coaches.
- Appreciate all participants for their commitment.
- Support school personnel in conducting a spirited and safe contest.
- Maintain composure when something seems to go against your team.
- Respect the rights of other spectators.
- Reward sportsmanlike behavior through cheering.
- Focus attention on the positive aspects of competition.
- Encourage student-athletes by showing enthusiasm and positive recognition. and…
- Demonstrate concern for the safety and welfare of student-athletes and each other
Also, please comply with our spectator expectations:
- Tickets are purchased through GoFan. Spectators are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance. General admission is $5.00, which includes convenience fee.
- Students should bring their student ID, in order to verify their enrollment
- Middle school students must purchase a ticket and be accompanied by a paying adult or will not be able to attend the event
- Elementary students (10 and under) are admitted free with a paying adult
- Senior citizens over the age of 62 are admitted free
Be Loud, Be Proud, Be Positive!
We’ll see you at the game.
Montgomery County Public Schools

Guide to Rights and Responsibilities
In order to ensure a safe, productive, and positive learning environment, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) publishes two documents that help students, parents, and staff and understand school rules and regulations; the expectations for student conduct; and the possible consequences for violating the rules.
A Student’s Guide to Rights and Responsibilities is an overview of the rights and responsibilities students enjoy in MCPS and a summary of the laws and regulations that affect students.
The MCPS Student Code of Conduct provides an overview of discipline procedures and protocols and the range of consequences students could face for violating various policies, regulations, and rules. The guide also discusses the MCPS philosophy to discipline and defines the various disciplinary responses.
