The severance tax will negatively impact small communities

Pocono Record

Pennsylvania’s economy will be in jeopardy if a severance tax passes the state legislature. Natural gas producers already pay an impact fee in addition to other business taxes.

If Pennsylvania enacts a severance tax, we could all pay more in household energy costs and for goods and services. Farmers, manufacturers and other businesses could pass the higher operational costs down to their customers.

The natural gas industry also indirectly supports local restaurants and stores, where workers and their families dine out and shop. An additional tax on natural gas production could impact these small businesses and communities.

To keep our economy stable and strong, we must oppose a severance tax.
