Inside Business short logo

At work: It’s been an honor working at Hubbard Peanut Co. I’m proud to continue and expand upon my grandparent’s vision. I’ve enjoyed seeing my mother and her siblings navigate the challenges of small business management and am excited to work through the various transitions that come with second- to third-generation growth. I’ve loved growing Hubs brand throughout the country, while becoming deeply ingrained in our community.

Home and family: I live in Franklin with my wife Bonnie, our two kids, Noah and May, and our dog Dolly.

Volunteer activities: Lately, I’ve been volunteering with The United Way, chamber of commerce, Rawls Museum Arts, The Camp Foundation, Woodberry Forest School and The Franklin Fire Soccer Team.

Motivating factors: I enjoy biographies and am motivated and inspired by others’ stories. Whether it’s Tony Hsiah’s “Delivering Happiness,” or “I Can’t Make This Up” by Kevin Hart, the common theme of success is always persistence, creativity, flexibility and a strong understanding of self. Traveling also opens the mind and I’m a strong believer in pushing your comfort zones.

Professional goal in five years: A goal I continue to strive to achieve would also be my advice for anyone, young or old, and that is to try to create more than you consume. Not all of us are going to produce the next great series on Netflix, HBO or Showtime, but we can experiment in the kitchen, journal, create opportunities in business, or memorable experiences for our kids or spouse. Professionally, I’d like to continue to intertwine my business aspirations with community development, recreational outlets, and work toward building an overall healthier and happier place for us to live.

Region’s biggest asset: Tidewater, which is my preferred name for the region, is a jewel in this country for outdoor activities. The rivers, swamps, bays, and ocean are key for us to enjoy, protect and utilize for economic development. Our local culinary delicacies like Hubs peanuts, pigs, crabs, oysters and fish represent the area throughout the country well, but we have an opportunity to market the region better for the recreational, historical and culinary gem that it is.
