Public submissions are now being called for on Supplementary Order Paper No.19 to the Overseas Investment Amendment Bill

The closing date for submissions on the SOP is Tuesday, 10 April 2018

The Finance and Expenditure Committee is calling for submissions on Supplementary Order Paper No. 19 which proposes to amend the Overseas Investment Amendment Bill. The SOP contains policy of public interest. The purpose is first, to bring overseas investments involving forestry rights or certain other profits a prendre within the screening regime. Secondly, the SOP sets out new tests for consent for overseas investments in forestry.

The Overseas Investment Amendment Bill originally had a report back date of 20 February 2018. This has been extended to 31 May 2018.

The committee have resolved to open submissions on the SOP, with a closing date of Tuesday 10 April 2018. Submitters who wish to present on their submission in person to the committee will need to have submitted by Tuesday 3 April 2018.

Those submitters who wish to be heard are asked to contact the secretariat in advance to be allocated a hearing during the week commencing 3 April. See details below.

Submissions are publicly released and published to the Parliament website. Only your name or organisation’s name is required on a submission. Please keep your contact details separate, as if they are included on the submission they will become publicly available when the submission is released.

  • If you wish to include information of a private or personal nature in your submission you should discuss this with the clerk of the committee before submitting.
  • If you wish to speak to your submission, please state this clearly. The committee reserves the right to determine which submitters it will hear and requests that submitters provide advance notice if they wish to be heard to the secretariat email before lodging their written submission.
