Division II State Championship
Akron Archbishop Hoban 2, Carroll Bloom-Carroll 1 (10 innings)
Hoban Wins In Extras for First State Championship
AKRON, Ohio – In a game where runs were hard to come by, Akron Archbishop Hoban was able to put up a run in the top of the 10th inning and hold on to beat Bloom-Carroll 2-1 to win the OHSAA Division II state championship Sunday at Canal Park.
 
In the top of the 10th inning, Mike Ciavolella was able to bring in a run to take the lead for Hoban (24-9), which was making its fifth state tournament appearance.
 
Parker Falkenstein brought in the first run for Hoban in the fourth inning. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Ayden Anderson was able to score for Bloom-Carroll (28-6). Deadlocked after 7, the game went into extra innings.
 
Dillon Walsh earned the win for the Knights, giving up only one hit in four innings and striking out one batter. Noah LaFine was the Hoban starter and went six innings, allowing only one run and striking out seven.
 
It was Bloom-Carroll’s fourth baseball state tournament appearance.

Division III State Championship
Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy 4, Archbold 1
CHCA Wins First State Championship
AKRON, Ohio – Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy was able to put up four runs in the bottom of the second inning and that was all the runs they needed in topping Archbold 4-1 Sunday in the Division III state championship game at Canal Park.
 
Junior Cooper Robinson threw a complete game for CHCA (23-8), allowing two hits and one run, while striking out 11.
 
It was CHCA’s fourth state appearance and first state championship.
 
In the bottom of the second inning, Collin Ames had a two-run single for CHCA and the Eagles would add two more runs to take a 4-0 lead.
 
Archbold (23-12) scored its lone run in the top of the fifth inning. It was Archbold’s second state appearance, with the first being in 2005.

Division IV State Championship
Warren John F. Kennedy 4, Van Wert Lincolnview
Big Inning Helps JFK Win First State Championship
AKRON, Ohio – Warren JFK was able to pull away with three runs in the fourth inning and then added another run in the fifth to defeat Van Wert Lincolnview 4-0 in the Division IV state championship game Sunday at Canal Park.
 
Gavin Shrum threw a complete game for JFK (21-6), notching seven strikeouts and allowing five hits. Shrum also went 2-4 at the plate with a run scored. It marked JFK’s first baseball state championship in its first trip to the baseball final four.
 
In the top of the fourth inning, Michael Mauro singled up the middle to drive in a run and give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Aidan Rossi and Santino Ciambotti each added singles in the inning to push the lead to 3-0 for JFK. Mauro would have another RBI in the top of the fifth.
 
For Lincolnview (24-9), Collin Overholt threw a complete game, giving up eight hits and striking out nine. It was Lincolnview’s third trip to the state tournament.

Division I State Championship
New Albany 6, Cincinnati Elder 5
New Albany Claims Second Baseball State Title
AKRON, Ohio – New Albany scored six runs through six innings and that enough to defeat Cincinnati Elder 6-5 in the Division I state championship game at Canal Park.
 
It marks New Albany’s second state championship with their first one being in 2004.
 
For New Albany (29-5), Brock Tibbitts went 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored three runs. Elijah Griffith threw five innings on the mound and earned the win, striking out six and holding Elder to one run.
 
Elder (25-9) scored four of their five runs in the sixth inning in a comeback bid. Chris Kammerer threw 3.1 innings of shutout relief.
