Eurovision: Where every UK entry song has reached on the Official Singles Chart

A bad placing in the competition doesn't always translate to a bad chart position...
Eurovision Song Contest - where every UK entry charted

On Saturday May 11 2024, Sweden's Malmö Arena will play host to the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, following Loreen's win for her home country with Tattoo.

This year, former Years & Years frontman Olly Alexander will represent the UK with a 'memorable' performance of Danny L. Harle co-write and production Dizzy, following in the footsteps of 2023's Mae Muller and 2022 selection Sam Ryder.

The United Kingdom first took part in the contest in 1957, although didn't manage a win until 1967, thanks to Sandie Shaw. Puppet On A String was also the first UK Eurovision song to top the Official Singles Chart, spending three weeks at Number 1 in '67.

How many times has the UK won Eurovision?

The UK has won Eurovision five times to date:

Despite your comments above Matt Monro's "I Love The Little Things" WAS released as a single, however due to the success of the "Song For Europe" EP (Extended Play), it reached #16 on the EP charts, the single failed to chart because most people had brought the EP which featured both tracks. Last years entry by James Newman and Michael Rice's "Bigger Than Us" both appeared in the Top 30 Download singles chart

The Allisons made No1 on the `New Musical Express` `Disc` and `Record Mirror` charts. Not only that- but they also topped the BBC "Pick of the Pops" chart as well. Just because the `Record Retailer` chart held them at No2, it is unfair to call it a No2. There were `no` official charts prior to 1969. To be No1 in one of the major charts in that era, was accepted. Alan Smith.
