Oklahoma's Own Garth Brooks is performing at the McKnight Center at OSU April 14 and 15.

You can blame it all on his roots. Garth Brooks is more nervous to perform at his old stomping grounds than any of the stadiums he's sold out.

"I can only hope and pray that I make you guys as proud as every time I look in the headlights, you make me proud," said Garth Brooks.

Back when he first started his career, Garth remembers wishing he was playing in big arenas. Now there's no place like Oklahoma.

"In a big stadium and these people are singing along and all you can think of is, 'I wish I was playing at Willies,'" said Garth.

Garth recently did a Q and A for OSU students in the arts.

"A kid named Bryce jumped up and said, 'hey man would you ever think about playing here?' I said I wasn't thinking about it but if we do it, you've got a front row seat," said Garth.

Now Bryce and his fellow classmates couldn't be more excited.

"It means the world. I mean he didn't forget where he came from. You know he's always giving back," said Bryce Kincannon.

"When I saw he was doing a concert I told my mom, I said, 'I will sell a kidney to go.' Then it said donate something and I said even better," said Elaney Sheridan.

Students attending the exclusive performance donated an item to the food pantry to get tickets.

Saturday's performance is for donors and alumni.

The goal was to raise $1 million this week to go toward scholarships for students so more people have access to higher education. They've doubled their goal and raised more than $2 million.

"What my Oklahoma State Degree gave to me was, I walked into a record label and when they said, 'hey man, we'd like to sign you,' I said, 'great. If I think you're trying to take advantage of me, I have a college degree to fall back on,'" said Garth.
