Benjamin J.C. Laabs, Department of Geosciences

My research focuses on geologic records of past glaciation and the response of surface processes to climate change. I study records of past glacier change and develop these to understand the pace and magnitude of climate change. My research involves studying geomorphic and stratigraphic records of past glaciations and lacustrine records in the mountain west and Great Plains regions of the United States. The tools of my research include field mapping, spatial analysis with GIS, cosmogenic nuclide exposure dating of sediments and landforms, and numerical modeling of surface processes. I direct the Cosmogenic Nuclide Preparation Lab at NDSU.
