NAREE’s 58th Annual Real Estate Journalism Conference is planned for June 18-21 in Austin, Texas at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

Please follow these 4 steps in order to come to NAREE’s Las Vegas Conference:
( 1 ) Renew NAREE Membership for 2024

What to Expect at #NAREE2024 in Austin, TX
NAREE conferences make news. We bring newsmakers and award-winning journalist together under one roof to explore hard-hitting questions on home building, hotels, the economy, mortgage rates and more.
NAREE leaders are planning a variety of events for NAREE’s 58th Annual Real Estate Journalism Conference, including NAREE University’s peer-to-peer workshops during breakfast and lunch. These sessions will focus on tools and hacks on how to do your job better and faster. The conference will also offer industry trends sessions each day and they will be moderated by NAREE’s award-winning journalists. On Thursday, June 20 NAREE’s Meet the Press and NAREE’s Real Estate Journalism Awards will be presented.
- NAREE offers a networking press room the Java Cafe for working remotely on quick projects and a quiet press room, the Zen Tea Room for those who need to work without interruption, and the Interview Studio for podcasters, video journalists and digital and print journalists doing in-depth interviews — all on the meeting room level. All members can sign up to book this space at NAREE’s Registration Desk.
Journalists are invited to be panelists on NAREE’s Meet the Press, which runs each year on Awards Day at 3:45 PM. MTP is NAREE’s one-on-one speed networking session where journalist panelists meet those who want to pitch them in a series of 3-minute appointments for 90 minutes.
NAREE’s prestigious Journalism Awards Presentation begins with a winner-only Red Carpet Reception at 6:15 PM on Awards Day. Awards will be presented at 7:30 PM. A press release on the awards will be posted online after the awards ceremony has concluded. Certificates will be mailed after the conference to those who could not attend. Expect to take home petabytes of news, new skills, new contacts and connect with colleagues from newsrooms from Los Angeles to New York. Follow us @nareenews.

Highlights of NAREE’s 57th Annual Real Estate Journalism Conference in Las Vegas — #NAREE2023
NAREE’s 57th Annual Real Estate Journalism Conference in Las Vegas, was by most accounts, the most informative conference in the nation for journalists covering residential and commercial real estate, home design, home building and community design.
Speakers included:
Dr. Richard Barkham, global chief economist for CBRE, one of the largest commercial real estate firms in the world.
Dr. Skylar Olsen, chief economist for Zillow, a major realty brand and online innovator in the residential marketplace.
Dr. Caitlin Sugrue Walter, National Multifamily Housing Council (NHMC), a significant force in the apartment sector.
NAREE’s Renowned Economic Forecast Panel – This panel is a NAREE tradition that prepares journalists to cover real estate news and trends in the year ahead. The 2023 NAREE panel includes: Dr. Jessica Lautz, National Association of Realtors; Dr. Selma Hepp, chief economist of CoreLogic; and Dr. Ted C. Jones, chief economist for Stewart Title Guaranty Company. Moderated by NAREE Past President Steve Brown, a highly respected veteran journalist at the Dallas Morning News.

NAREE’s Meet the Press
Meet the Press was held on Thursday, June 8th in the afternoon.
MTP is a must for veteran journalists and those new to the real estate beat.
On-site sign-up only was offered to conferees for three-minute, one-on-on appointments with the nation’s leading real estate journalists.
Meet the Press celebrated its 26th year at the annual conference. NAREE’s MTP runs 90 minutes and offers conference registrants chances to network with participating journalists for three minutes. When the bell rings, conferees move to their next media appointments to introduce themselves and their present their “pitches”. It’s a fun, fast-paced in-person media tour a with a speed dating format. Paper sign-up sheets at registration list a number of appointment times for authors, columnists, public relations professionals and speakers to talk to commercial and residential real estate reporters, editors and writers. You have to be present at the conference to sign up. Media participants are not announced ahead of time. MTP is expected to run on Awards Day in the afternoon.

Two press rooms — the "Java Cafe" buzzing with networking conferees recharging with complimentary coffee, and the quiet press room, the "Zen Tea Room," designated for media on deadline — will make working remotely a breeze, especially when you need to duck in and out of sessions quickly. There’s even a quiet space for podcasters and broadcast journalists to book: NAREE's “Interview Studio.”
NAREE’s "Green Room” is a spot for speakers and moderators to meet before their sessions start.

The NAREE Conference is open to all NAREE members active journalist members and industry associate members, and all media attending for the first time.
Many journalist members renew their membership in the journalism contest module which was open from Feb 1 to March 1. If you entered the 2024 competition your membership is current. If not, please RENEW HERE.
Most Industry Associate members renew prior to the conference. Please RENEW HERE.
Speakers are not required to join NAREE but must register for NAREE’s conference and make their own hotel reservations at the hyrax Regency in Austin.

Journalist Registration for NAREE’s 2024 Conference will be open to:
• Independent journalists working for the news division of independent news outlets who are 2024 Paid NAREE Members. If you’ve already paid your 2024 dues or entered the 2024 J-Contest (Portal opens Feb. 1 and closes Mar. 1 every year). Please scroll up to Register as a Journalist if you are a current 2024 paid member..
• Bona fide digital, print and broadcast journalists include freelance or staff writers, reporters, editors, columnists and broadcast producers — covering residential and commercial real estate, mortgage and finance, the business of real estate, home and urban design, luxury, green building, architecture, housing policy among other topics for bona fide news outlets.
• NAREE defines bona fide news outlets as those independent of sponsoring organizations/advertising control, not affiliated with trade associations, lobby groups, PR firms, real estate brokerage companies or any companies in the broad field of real estate – building companies, developers, architects, etc. or governmental entities.

Industry Associate Registration for NAREE’s 2024 Conference will be open to:
• Writers, editors, producers, bloggers, columnists and/or content providers for non-news divisions of media parent companies, trade association affiliated publications, and real estate industry special interest information outlets and sponsored publications, and marketplaces.
• Publishers, authors, columnists, bloggers and those who write for independent news outlets in the news division – part-time as a complement to their industry-related jobs.
• Communication professionals – publicists, marketing directors and consultants – who disseminate information on behalf of real estate-related business interests.
There is a $300 fee for Industry Associates not staying at NAREE HQ. Austin Metro area residents excluded).
Atlanta 2022 Conference
The #NAREE2022 Annual Real Estate Journalism Conference ran Tues., Oct. 11 to Fri., Oct. 14 at the Westin Buckhead Atlanta. Journalists from around the nation from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Boston Globe, The New York Times, The Miami Herald, to the Houston Chronicle, Dallas Morning News, Denver Post and Los Angeles Times attended. Reporters and editors from The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News, Barron’s, The Real Deal, Insider, CoStar News and Bisnow also attended.
