Heroines of Washington is one of the area’s most unique events, recognizing and honoring women in the D.C. Metro Area for their dedication to community service. Since 2001 the March of Dimes has honored 143 "heroines" and raised more than $4 million to make sure one day all babies are born full term and healthy. Guests include directors, CEOs and other high-level individuals from local corporations and government agencies.

At the March of Dimes we define a heroine as a women who approaches giving back to the community and her profession with the same level of commitment and dedication.
Nominations Criteria & Process (

Women must exemplify superb volunteer service beyond their employment requirements. Nominees are awarded in the following categories:
- Healthcare: Physicians, Hospital Administrators, Nurses, Medical office employees, Health Insurance, etc.
- Real Estate: Residential, Commercial, Construction, Design/Build, Architecture, etc.
- Professional Services: Accounting, Communications, Legal, Finance, Banking, Consulting, Marketing, Public Relations, Radio, Associations, etc.
- Public Sector: Current employees working in the Public Sector (Educators, Government employees, Teachers, Military, etc.) or individuals working in a capacity that serves a governement entity.
- Technology: Information Technology, STEM, Software Engineering, Computer Science, etc.
- Rising Star: Nominees under the age of 35
- Corporate Heroine: CEO, president, or business owner who actively encourages volunteerism in the workplace, driving employees to make an impact on the community collectively as an organization.

Fund The Mission
Moms and babies need you now more than ever.
Data show that the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations in the world for childbirth. Over 700 women die each year from pregnancy-related causes, and the CDC reports that 60 percent are preventable. The preterm birth rate is on the rise. Two babies die every hour in the United States.
Fund the Mission gifts are 100% tax deductible and direct contributions to help helps fund:
- Free virtual NICU support program for families
- Virtual prenatal programs for moms-to-be
- COVID-19 interventions and support for moms and babies
- Programs that promote health equity for moms and babies and directly combat racial disparities in maternal and child health
- Educational programs, including live Facebook panel discussions, to get info into the hands of moms and families, and so much more!
