📣 Today is Hospice Advocacy Day and we wanted to shoutout one of our hospice RNs, Dorothea Naouai! Dorothea was recently nominated for an award at Mt. Sinai hospital for the amazing work she does. One of the social workers had this to say about how she goes above and beyond for her patients. "Dorothea is always an asset to any team she joins. She brings such light to every patient and family who has the pleasure of working with her. Dorothea is always willing to help and take on more than necessary to make patients and families feel supported during hard times. Any team that has Dorothea on board is lucky to have her!" 👏 Let's hear it for Waldina Palacios, a powerhouse team member making a difference in the lives of unhoused New Yorkers with severe mental health challenges. Waldina began here as an escort translator for Spanish-speaking patients. She then became a home health aide, a HHA coordinator, and now, her dream role, as a peer specialist with our Intensive Mobile Treatment team. Overcoming her own challenges with mental health, she uses her personal experiences to connect with her patients. Waldina recalls, "I recently said to one of my clients, in Spanish, 'Listen, I was in your shoes. I went through what you’re going through. If I can do it, you can do it.'” Waldina's journey is an inspiration to us all and a testament to the dedication of women in health this #WomensHealthWeek and beyond. ☀️ 🏌️ We had a picture-perfect day at the Whippoorwill Club in Armonk, NY for our 2024 Golf Classic! We were able to raise over $260,000 for our Veterans Program. Thank you to everyone who joined us today out on the green.

She recently sat down with BronxNet Community Television to shed light on the crucial role social workers play for mental health support. From connecting individuals to services like ACT to advocating for community education, they're champions of holistic care. “I want people to hear that it's OK. We all need support. We all need help. And there’s nothing wrong with asking for help.”

The relatives of a hospice patient who passed away sent their gratitude to hospice nurse Lavaughn C. “While a month has gone by since her passing, a day does not pass without us thinking about you,” they wrote. “The care and kindness that you extended to her and to us, her family, made a huge difference.
