"We welcomed the female delegation from Keidanren at the Organon HQ office in US"
Female executives from member companies of Keidanren (Japan Business Association) visited our Jersey City office in NJ on Feb 5, 2024 to discuss women’s health and empowerment. Organon introduced our business, culture, and DEI&B as well as ESG, while Keidanren presented their promotion activities of diversity.
Organon considers Belonging highly important as much as DEI. Organon believes that safety to be oneself regardless personal differences creates a sense of connection to others and the organization. This concept seems to interest the delegation at the meeting. As they heard of Belonging from another company, we heard it became a memorable word during their trip to the US.
Organon was founded about 3 years ago with almost 9,000 employees and ongoing businesses already on Day 1. A sense of belonging must have played an important part in mobilizing all employees of diverse backgrounds together towards one purpose in this founding phase, and it still is the foundation to our culture. Now that the tradition of lifetime employment in Japan is changing, Belonging might have left an impression to the executives from Japanese companies.
Diversity is essential to build an organization in which everyone feels a sense of safety and being valued. While diversity means more than gender, we believe that gender equity is the first step on embracing diversity because women comprising half the world population is still minority in many social settings. Organon aims to contribute to embedding gender equity in society by providing better solutions to women’s health through our businesses.
This meeting became the opportunity for us to reevaluate our own culture by looking at it through the eyes of an outsider. Thank you for the great experience, Keidanren!
