Get IP Addresses/ASNs
Any ISP or end-user in Latin America and the Caribbean can request IP address blocks (IPv4, IPv6) or autonomous numbers (ASN) from LACNIC.
LACNIC is responsible for assigning IP addresses and ASNs to organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean. However, organizations based in Mexico or Brazil must request resources from their corresponding NIR as detailed below:

If your organization is an Internet Service Provider, offers web hosting, co-location, VPS or dedicated link services, you must request resources as an ISP.
If your organization will use the resources in its own infrastructure without reassigning any blocks to third parties (e.g., banks, government agencies, universities, etc.) you must submit your resource request as an end user.
Because we are currently in IPv4 exhaustion Phase 3, LACNIC will only assign blocks from the equivalent of a /24 to a /22.
About IPv4 Exhaustion [+]- Be legally established within the region and use the resources in LACNIC's coverage area.
- Prove utilization or immediate necessity for 25% of the requested space.
- Submit a detailed one-year plan for 50% utilization.
- Agree to renumber out of the previously assigned blocks and return those IPv4 addresses to their ISPs no later than 12 months after the allocation of the /22.
- If the applicant does not already have an IPv6 block assigned by LACNIC, please request one simultaneously.
- * The IPv4 request will be included on the waitlist once the organization receives an IPv6 assignment.
- Be legally established within the region and use the resources in LACNIC's coverage area.
- The applicant must justify that the assigned space will be announced from the applicant’s own autonomous system to at least one other autonomous system.
- Prove utilization of or immediate necessity for 25% of the requested space and 50% within the next 12 months.
- Agree to renumber out of the previously assigned blocks and return those IPv4 addresses to their ISPs no later than 6 months after the allocation of the block.
- If the applicant does not already have an IPv6 block assigned by LACNIC, please request one simultaneously.
- * The IPv4 request will be included on the waitlist once the organization receives an IPv6 assignment.
ISP
The minimum allocation size for an ISP is a /32.
- Be legally established within the region and use the resources in LACNIC's coverage area.
- Document a detailed plan of services and IPv6 connectivity to be offered to other organizations.
- Announce the allocated block in the Internet inter-domain routing system, with the minimum possible level of disaggregation, within a period of no longer than 12 months.
- Offer IPv6 services to clients physically located in the region covered by LACNIC within a period of not longer than 24 months.
End user
The minimum allocation size for end users is a /48.
- Be legally established within the region and use the resources in LACNIC's coverage area.
- Announce the allocated block in the Internet inter-domain routing system with the minimum possible level of disaggregation.
- Provide detailed information showing how the requested block will be used in the next 3, 6 and 12 months.
- Submit a detailed description of the network topology.
- Prepare a detailed description of the network routing plans, including the routing protocols to be used.

LACNIC assigns 32-bit ASNs by default. However, if a 32-bit ASN is not compatible with your equipment, or the equipment of your providers, you may specifically request a 16-bit ASN.
- Be legally established within the region and use the resources in LACNIC's coverage area.
- The organization must require interconnection with other independent Autonomous Systems at the time of the application, or be planning to do so within a period of no more than six (6) months. After this period, LACNIC may revoke the assigned ASN if it has not been used.
- Detail the applicant's routing policy, specifying the ASNs with which the organization will interconnect and the IP addresses that will be announced through the requested ASN.
- Be legally established within the region and use the resources in LACNIC's coverage area.
- The organization must require the ability to interconnect with other independent Autonomous Systems at the time of application, or be planning to do so within a period of no more than six (6) months. After this period, LACNIC may revoke the assigned ASN if it has not been used.
- Detail the applicant's routing policy, specifying the ASNs with which the organization will interconnect and the IP addresses that will be announced through the requested ASN.
