In the the last month narcotics, burglary, aggravated assault, battery, vandalism, and weapon related crimes have all been committed in the vicinity of Broadway, said authorities.

ASSAULT JUST SOME OF THE CRIMES REPORTED IN A STRETCH OF SACRAMENTO THERE USED TO BE KNOWN FOR BEING A SAFE PLACE TO LIVE AND WORK NEIGHBORS TELLING US NOW. THEY’VE HAD ENOUGH KCRA3’S AARON HEFF JOINING US FROM LAND PARK WHERE NEIGHBORS SAY THEY WANT ANSWERS. THEY WANT ANSWERS AND RESOURCES. NEIGHBORS IN THIS AREA. THEY TELL ME THEY UNDERSTAND THERE’S UNSAR CITY. STEP IN AND ADDRESS THE CRIME THAT’S HAPPENING IN THIS AREA. THAT’S PLAGUING US. IT’S JUST TOO MUCH IN MY SEVEN YEAR OLD AND FOUR YEAR OLD WERE IN THE CAR THE SEVEN YEAR OLDS LIKE MOM. WHY ARE THOSE PEOPLE LYING ON THE SIDEWALK? AND WHAT IS THE BIG MATCH THE BIG FIRE IN THEIR HAND AND WHAT’S IN THEIR ARMS? SO THAT TELLS A SEVEN YEAR OLD. THIS IS OKAY CONDUCT. WE DON’T HAVE ANYONE STOPPING IT. NEIGHBORS SHARED WITH US THESE PHOTOS AND VIDEO TAKEN IN THE LAST WEEK THIS VIDEO OF A PERSON SHOOTING A SUBSTANCE DIRECTLY INTO THEIR NECK. AND ANOTHER PERSON COOKING SOMETHING ON TOP OF A JUMP BIKE IN A PARKING LOT. I SAID ASKING WHY WHERE ARE THE POLICE? AND THE THING IS AT THE END OF THE DAY, THEY’RE BUSY. THEY’RE UNDERSTAFFED HERE AND THEY’RE NOT REALLY GETTING THE MANDATE FROM THE CITY. LET’S PUT POP OFFICERS HERE. LET’S FOCUS ON THIS AREA. BUT WE’VE NOW AS A CITY. SAID THIS IS CONDUCT. WE’RE GOING TO TURN A BLIND EYE TO THE CITY AND POLICE SHARING WITH US THIS CRIME MAP IN THE LAST MONTH NARCOTICS AGGRAVATED ASSAULT BATTERY VANDALISM BURGLARY AND WEAPONS RELATED CRIMES HAVE ALL BEEN COMMITTED ALONG BROADWAY THIS MAPS DATA DATES BACK TWO YEARS AND IF WE LOOK BACK AT 2020 THE TYPE OF CRIME IN THIS AREA AND AMOUNT IS FAIRLY SIMILAR. I WANT ANSWERS FROM THE CITY CHRISTINA ROGERS BELIEVES A LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY IS LEADING TO DRUGS ASSAULT AND MORE PRIME IS HAPPENING EVERY DAY 24/7 DRUG DEALING IS HAPPENING 24/7. I KEEP HEARING ABOUT REVITALIZATION IN THIS AREA AND THIS IS WHAT WE’RE GETTING INSTEAD THE TWO SAY THEY SUPPORT POLICE AND QUESTION WHY THE CITY HASN’T HELPED DESIGNATE A PROBLEM-ORIENTED POLICE OFFICER TO THE AREA AND WHY DRUGS AND DEALERS AREN’T BEING HELD TO THE STANDARD OF THE LAW. PEOPLE ARE ANGRY. I’M YET TO TALK TALK TO SOMEONE IN LAMPARK. THAT IS NOT FURIOUS AND WANTING TO MOVE QUITE FRANKLY WHAT IS GOING ON WITH SUPPORTING POLICE OFFICERS DEALING WITH CRIME AND PARTNERING WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT SO WE CAN GET OUR COMMUNITY BACK. WE REACHED OUT TO THE CITY AND COUNCILMEMBER KATIE VALENZUELA WHO PROVIDED US THE FOLLOWING QUOTE THE POLICE HAVE GOTTEN MORE RESOURCES THAN THEY EVER HAD BEFORE 47 MILLION ADDITIONAL IN JUST THE LAST TWO BUDGETS DESPITE THAT INCREASE IN FUNDING. OUR CRIME HAS GONE UP BECAUSE THE ISSUES HERE ARE NOT ABOUT ENFORCEMENT. WE WILL NOT SEE A DECREASE IN CRIME UNTIL WE START PRIORITIZING THE REASON PEOPLE COMMIT CRIMES DRUG AND MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY OFF BROADWAY AND LAND PARK AARON HEFT KCRAE 3 NEWS. In the the last month narcotics, burglary, aggravated assault, battery, vandalism, and weapon related crimes have all been committed in the vicinity of Broadway, said authorities.

Open drug use has worsened in the Broadway area of Land Park recently, according to neighbors who say they are upset about a lack of action to combat lawlessness. But neighbors in that area are voicing their concern about the rising crime happening along Broadway. “It kills me, our city has been destroyed,” said Land Park resident and mother of two, Monica Robinson. “When I drive through this neighborhood now, I don’t know what my kids are going to see, but more importantly I don’t know how I’m going to explain to my kids what they’re seeing."According to the city of Sacramento and police, in the last month, narcotics, burglary, aggravated assault, battery, vandalism, and weapon-related crimes have all been committed in the vicinity of Broadway, which flanks the northern side of Land Park.Neighbors in Land Park shared these pictures and videos with KCRA:“We’ve got people dealing drugs, and shooting up, and having crazy episodes in front of children … I keep hearing about revitalization in this area, and this is what we’re getting instead,” said Land Park Community Association vice president Kristina Rogers.Rogers believes a lack of accountability is leading to drugs, assault and other crimes in the area.“Crime is happening every day 24/7, drug dealing is happening 24/7,” said Rogers.Both Robinson and Rogers separately made reference to their support of law enforcement, both questioning why the city hasn’t designated resources for the issue.“I want answers from the city,” said Rogers.KCRA reached out to the city and Councilmember Katie Valenzuela provided the following statement:“The police have gotten more resources than they ever had before - $47m additional in just the last two budgets. Despite that increase in funding our crime has gone up, because the issues here are not about enforcement. We will not see a decrease in crime until we start prioritizing the reasons people commit crimes: drug and mental health treatment, affordable housing, economic opportunity."The area of Broadway is the same area where Starbucks decided to permanently close a storefront, a first for the coffee chain in Northern California, due to concerns over personnel safety.To explore Sacramento city and police record criminal activity click here.
