Wearing Your Graphic T-Shirt Under a Jacket

The ubiquitous t-shirt. I explored this piece of clothing last summer with a blog series of the three of us sporting solid colored t-shirts. If you haven’t noticed, there’s been a surge of graphic t-shirts lately! Many graphic tees now have a picture or design on the front; but this category can also include a shirt that has sayings or codes written on them. If you’re one of those that already has a graphic tee, you might have one with a saying that is meaningful to you.
Thus when Melonkiss approached me for a possible collaboration, I thought it’d be fun to join the graphic-T movement!
Of course, I need to confess that I work hard to go beyond wearing “just graphic t-shirts.” I have this strange theory that we ought to present ourselves in the best light possible. And wearing a boxy shirt is usually not at the top of my list of how to look great! But since I’m always up for a challenge and Melonkiss had some fun shirts from which to choose, I thought I’d put my spin on the project.
Funny thing, is I didn’t even go back to last year’s posts to remember our categories or what we were wearing—and I wished I had in order to have given you some more variety. The first in last year’s series was also wearing the t-shirt with a jacket, but at least I did vary our jackets for this post!
I think my favorite reason for adding a jacket to this item, is to give some structure to it! All of our jackets are lightweight for the warmer months–but the tees definitely work with heavier ones too!

Jodie’s (50’s) Outfit: I wore this to our outing to visit Boulder’s Farmer’s Market (thus the shot of me eating in the top collage). It was a hot & sunny day, but for me, that means to cover up from the sun’s rays! Consequently, I donned the hat (it’s really my husband’s) and the sunglasses.
I picked the graphic t-shirt that appropriately says blogging over jogging. I’ve never been a huge lover of running anyways, but especially as I’ve gotten older, I like the kinder and gentler workouts!

Nancy’s (60’s) Graphic T-Shirts Outfit: I picked the graphic t-shirt GRL PWR for Nancy! She has a ton of girlfriends that she hangs out with playing bridge, travelling and going to many events. So I thought she’d get a kick out of it!
Even though much of the focus is on the top half, I wanted to include her black & white print pants! They are such a bold statement…just like the shirt is, in my opinion!
And these sandals were such a great buy from Target a couple summers ago. Since Nancy wears a smaller shoe size, we can occasionally strike gold in the kids department. Sometimes the kid’s shoes are more fun and interesting!!

Charlotte’s (70’s) Outfit: I picked the graphic t-shirt that said Celfie for my mother for a couple reasons. One, the way it’s spelled reminds me of Celine Dion, who I think is so elegant. Second, I picked these shirts soon after my mom took her first “selfie” with my phone. This was when I was trying to teach her to use it so she could inherit it. Needless to say I wasn’t successful in getting her to convert to a smart phone! Yet!
Mom’s wearing her gingham jacket which all three of us styled last year in the gingham posts (seen here, here, & here). I added a couple of brooches on it to bring in some color. And then, of course, we had to don fun sandals—see—mom’s mixing her prints again!
