A number of Hollywood stars took to social media on Sunday to remember Bob Saget after the Full House star and comedian was found dead earlier that day. Saget was 65.
Saget was found unresponsive in a hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes and pronounced dead on the scene, the Orlando Sheriff’s Department confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Sunday night. Authorities have no information on the cause of death. Detectives have found no signs of foul play or drug use in this case, and the Orange County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
“We are devastated to confirm that our beloved Bob passed away today,” said the Saget family in a statement to THR. “He was everything to us and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter. Though we ask for privacy at this time, we invite you to join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world.”

The famous stand-up comedian and Philadelphia native is best known for his breakout role as Danny Tanner on ABC’s popular family sitcom Full House, which ran from fall 1987 through May 1995 and was rebooted by Netflix in 2016 as Fuller House.
Saget’s Full House co-stars took to social media to remember him. After individual posts from castmembers, the series’ alums posted a group statement in which they said their TV clan “became a real family.”
“And now we grieve as a family,” the statement continued. “Bob made us laugh until we cried. Now our tears flow in sadness, but also with gratitude for all the beautiful memories of our sweet, kind, hilarious, cherished Bob. He was a brother to us guys, a father to us girls and a friend to all of us. Bob, we love you dearly. We ask in Bob’s honor, hug the people you love. No one gave better hugs than Bob.”
Saget was also known for his voiceover work on How I Met Your Mother. He narrated the CBS sitcom that ran from 2005-14 as the older version of the show’s main character, Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor). In a series of tweets, HIMYM co-creator Craig Thomas remembered Saget and explained how he helped their show.
“We cast a different actor’s voice to be Future Ted because we liked the idea of Future You telling Past You that it’s all gonna be OK, the ups…the downs…you will make it through…thanks for telling us Bob… and making us feel that it’s true,” Thomas wrote.
Saget was also valuable behind the scenes, Thomas said, explaining that having the beloved figure as narrator “helped the show — which was created by a couple of untested children (me and Carter Bays) get, and stay, on the air…it lent an air of legitimacy to have him…and in the comedy community, it meant respect.”
In a series of tweets, Radnor recalled how he bonded with the voice of his character’s future self.
“He was the kindest, loveliest, funniest, most supportive man,” Radnor wrote of Saget. “The easiest person to be around. A mensch among mensches.”
“I had so much imposter syndrome when HIMYM started, thought I’d be found out, kicked off set & sent home. When I’d run into Bob on the Fox lot in those early days he’d gush over my performance & tell me how he was studying me to make sure his vocal performance felt right,” Radnor wrote. “This man that I’d delighted in seeing on TV for years cheering me on, letting me know I had a right to be there and playing that character… I can’t overstate how meaningful his words were. (He also, true to form, told me jokes that I cannot tell here or in polite company.)”
In closing, he captioned a photo of him with Saget with this message: “I’m endlessly grateful that HIMYM brought Bob Saget into my life. I’ll hear his voice in my head for the rest of my days.”
Everyone from Norman Lear and Billy Crystal to Jon Stewart also shared their reactions to Saget’s untimely passing on Sunday. Gilbert Gottfried said he was “still in shock” upon hearing the news: “I just spoke with Bob a few days ago. We stayed on the phone as usual making each other laugh. RIP to friend, comedian & fellow Aristocrat Bob Saget.” Whoopi Goldberg wrote, “Sail on my friend Bob Saget. With your huge heart and abject lunacy.”
