A thousand times yes!

Sarah Sutton is officially my new favorite and auto-buy author.

Most romance books have "alpha males", who make me so fucking uncomfortable, but her love interests are sweet and kind and soft and just decent human beings, really.
They never force the idea of "I'm a girl, you're a boy, we have to bang", most of the time I don't even think about what their geneder is, they're just two people having and/or building an emotional bond. It's such a breath of fresh air.
And if it's not enough to convince you, her books touch on different kind of family dynamics, have healthy realtionships, and the main characters don't hate other girls. They become friends with them.

So they are cozy blankets and would definitely make you happy and feel single even if you don't even want a realationship.

Come, join me on this journey.

Happy reading :)

I have to sayd, Out of My Leagues is not really on my league. I can not find the chemistry with the story. The beginning of the book is pretty boring.
Although the blurp is very promising.

Maybe it is my tired mood when I listened to the audiobook. I don't know...

I actually really liked it, I didn´t expect to tho. It´s cute and over the top sometimes but mostly fun read, it took me less than a day to finish. Out of My League is filled with some teenage cliches but that´s not really surprising and it does have that somewhat annoying "grand gesture" but its mostly good.

This book is so sweet it made my teeth hurt. The characters are so fun and relatable and I was rooting for them from the very beginning. I didn't realize how much I needed to read an adorable high school romance until I picked up this book. I was sent an ARC of this book on May 25th and finished the book in less than 24 hours. It's been a very long time since I've down that! This book makes me feel like I did high school all wrong! Maybe it's just because we didn't have a baseball team, haha!

Incredible work by an incredible author, I can' give this book enough praise!!

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Once again, Sarah Sutton has impressed me with her writing skills. She really hit a home-run with this one! Given how great her last book was, I’m not surprised to see her knock another book out of the park! (Don’t worry, I’ll stop making baseball puns now!)
Sophia Wallace has a problem; actually, make that a lot of problems. Her future in journalism is suddenly bleak, her parents have quite a few issues, her boyfriend publicly dumped her in a humiliating way at a huge party, and the super popular baseball player hosting the party suddenly confesses his secret feelings for her to spare her the embarrassment. Later, a fake relationship starts, throwing Sophia’s world upside down. As everything starts to fall apart around her, she has to figure out what matters the most and realize that maybe she’s the one at fault for the damage.
Sarah has such a gift when it comes to writing. Not only does she manage to write such adorable, clean romances, but she excels at capturing the raw emotions, flaws, and issues in the world. She doesn’t sugarcoat it; her books have so much depth to them. Instead of a shallow romance where everything is lovey-dovey and happy and the world is perfect, Sarah’s books are so much more realistic than that. Families have problems and sometimes friends fight and relationships can be full of miscommunications and sorrow. I loved it from start to finish! It perfectly combines the elements of a good rom-com with the truth of reality, and that’s what makes this book so wonderful.
The characters are my favorite part of this book. I love how they make mistakes and do stupid things. The character development and the growth are truly amazing. Sarah does a wonderful job of breaking stereotypes and it shows in her characters. Watching them from the beginning to the end reflects just how far they’ve come. As the reader, you can’t help but root for them along the way! And I’m not just referring to Sophia and Walsh, the two main characters. I ended up rooting for the side characters, too!
As far as the whole fake relationship goes, I definitely loved that part of the book! In order to prevent spoilers, I will be very vague. Be prepared for fluff and cuteness and plenty of “Awww!” moments! Also, a certain baseball player is super sweet and kind so it’s hard not to love him.
Ultimately, this book was a tale of love, family, friendship, betrayal, and most of all, forgiveness. I would definitely recommend this book to romance fans or just fans of sweet, wholesome books. Also, if you’re a fan of Kasie West, you’d probably also be a fan of Sarah’s! I’d go to bat for Sarah and her amazing books any day! (Okay, so I couldn’t resist another baseball pun…) In all seriousness, do yourself a favor and read her books!

This book was so sweet and cute!! It was a fun and entertaining read. It takes place the summer between Sophia and Walsh’s junior and senior year of high school. This is a book about learning about yourself and family. It is a sweet story of first love and learning hard life lessons. Sophia learns about herself and more about her family. She matured so much as the story unfolds. I absolutely loved everything about this book!!

**I received an ARC via BookFunnel in exchange for an honest review**

I will make this pun right off the bat - oh, lord, I guess I'll be making two puns - by saying that Sarah Sutton truly hit a home run with this book.

I woke up this morning with an email that I was selected to get an ARC of this book and I was over the moon. So much so that I didn't put it down all day. There was no stopping my reading of this. No interruptions. And I am so happy I binged it.

OUT OF MY LEAGUE is an adorable novel. Walsh and Sophia are fantastic, along with their motley crew of side characters, that all tugged on my heart strings in every way possible. And I LOVED it. Truly. I would ask them to make me feel all the emotions again and again.

This book was everything and more that I needed for a rainy day without baseball to watch. Sutton truly masters YA and I cannot wait to read more of her works in the future. Do yourself a favour and pick up this book if you're in the mood for an adorable, well written, fun YA novel to escape life. Because this is exactly the kind of book that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. And it's fantastic.

This was a great read! I found the characters well-rounded and the story fun and easy. I especially liked Walsh, because from the get-go, it’s apparent that he’s not as perfect as everyone perceives him to be, and that’s important to me, because it’s easy to make love interests too perfect. I thought Sutton did an excellent job of walking the line between what her audience wants from her characters and plot and not being cliche. Additionally, she did a great job at creating the moral push-and-pull between whether or not Sophia should write the article and writing an effectively emotional climax.

If anything, I was surprised that Sophia got so emotionally invested so soon, considering how level-headed and determined to get her journalism program back she was, but I’m sure if I were still a teenager, that’s exactly what I’d want to happen. My other concern pertains to her family dynamics, which overall were great, because they added dimension, but I found her parents’ parenting style a bit hard to swallow (though again, that could be accredited to my age and style of upbringing).

In any case, everything she wrote had a purpose and worked together to form a well-written novel that I couldn’t put down.

A sweet summer sporty romance that teens are sure to love. This book has some serious rivals to lovers vibes and I like it. I don't believe I've ever read a fake relationship romance before this but I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you're a sports person, that's a bonus (part of the reason I'm considering getting my younger sister a copy for her birthday. Shh... Don't tell her). As a writer myself (and someone who has come from a kind of broken home) I definitely empathized with Sophia's feelings. As I remember, there's nothing worse than being a teenager and feeling like your world is changing around you and all you can do is hold on for the ride.

Another home-run from up and coming YA author Sarah Sutton!

I LOVED this book! It hit me right in the feels and I cried more times than I care to admit. I related so much to the main character, Sophia, and was rooting for her the entire book. Sutton is amazing at creating well-rounded characters and tying up all the loose ends. The pacing of the book is perfect and, no surprise, it's incredibly well-written.

I think this follow up to her first book is even better and Sarah Sutton is an author to look out for!

Highly recommend this book for anyone who loves YA, because this is exactly what YA should be.

I had the privilege of being sent the ARC of this amazing book! I made the mistake of starting it during finals week 🙈, and I had to refrain myself from picking it up sometimes when I was supposed to be studying, so thats why it took me almost three days to finish. But it's all good, because it was SO worth it.

Sophia and Walsh's story was so beautiful. Sophia was going through some things with her family and so was Walsh. They bonded over dysfunctional families, and learned maybe that isn't so bad. I loved their fake dating relationship, it made me laugh so much AND swoon.

I definitely reccomend this book if your looking for a swoony and loveable book this summer. Get 'Out of My League' on June 16th ❤🙌⚾️

Out of my League by Sarah Sutton is a stand-alone story in the Love in Fenton County collection - book 2.

Sophia’s senior year was supposed to be the year she worked on the school newspaper, and got the internship to help set up her future. But all that is about to be shattered on the last day of her junior year, when her beloved school newspaper is to be cut to further fund the baseball team.

That’s just the start of her day, and things get worse when she has to finally decides to break up with her boyfriend. But that also doesn’t go to plan, when he’s kinda cheating on her and breaks up with her first.

But Sophia will do anything to stop the newspaper from being cut and even more to make her ex jealous, even if that’s fake dating the star baseball player and his archenemy, Walsh Hunter.

This is a small town YA romance, with a fake relationship and baseball trope added in. These two characters have a slight chemistry and banter to begin with, and this eventually develops as the story progresses and they have real feelings for each other. Overall this was a sweet story that flowed well.

Sidenote: I read What Are Friends For? first, as I wanted to make sure these stories were true stand-alone and they are.

If everyone can forgive the continuance of baseball puns, this book really "knocked it out of the park." I would arguably say that Sarah Sutton writes what YA should be. Her stories are filled with likable, relatable characters who are stuck in equally relatable (and realistic) quandaries. For me, Walsh and Sophia had great chemistry. I loved reading their banter, and despite their ups and downs, I couldn't help but root for them to work it all out. The entire book tugged at my heartstrings, and despite having read it about a week or two ago, it's still at the forefront of my mind. When I was a young teen, Paula Danziger was my author of choice. If my suspicions are correct, before long, Sarah Sutton will have an audience who feels the exact same way about her books! The YA genre definitely has a new leading talent!

He didn’t know. He didn’t know how I was, not truly.

But I wanted him to. I wanted Walsh to know how I was, how I could be, just in the way I wanted to know him. Every thought, every desire, every dream. I wanted to know it all, and even though it was a terrifying thought, I wanted him to know all of me too.

Gahhhhh, I honestly can’t even begin to express how much I loved this book. Seriously. I was worried that all the drama on Sophia’s side (and also on Walsh’s side) would taint the book and make it hard for me to enjoy...but it didn’t. And while I usually can predict certain aspects of most stories, this one actually had a few unexpected twists!

Y'all, by the end of the book, I realized how much hope this story held...it really showed that even though bad things happen (and it doesn’t look like anything will change for the better), life can surprise you and turn out absolutely amazing. There were so many good lessons. I loved the character development and growth. Sophia was definitely selfish at times, but aren’t we all? And I loved how she was finally able to recognize that about herself and deal with it.

As far as content goes: No language and only kissing/making out. Walsh was shirtless a couple of times. Brief/mild suggestive comments were made. Dishonesty was a big part of the plot. Cheating did happen (not between the main characters). Underage drinking was mentioned. Mostly-absent parents were part of the storyline (I wasn't triggered by this, but other readers could be). I don't want to spoil anything, so I will just say that the book does have some more serious themes; BUT, they weren't very extreme and didn't overshadow the romance elements. I can't remember if there was anything else.

Walsh is 100% worthy of being book boyfriend material. I know he wasn’t perfect and made mistakes, but I liked how that just made him more real. I swooned, and swooned, and swooned, y’all. 😍💗

I didn’t want the book to end, I really didn’t. 😭🥺

Sophia is about to enter her senior year of high school and can finally apply for the internship with the local newspaper. But, when her school journalism course is shut down, she is no longer eligible to apply. She discovers that the funding is being diverted into the school’s baseball program and focuses her anger and frustration on Walsh Hunter, the oh-so-perfect captain of the baseball team. She decides to try to persuade the school board to change their minds with a killer article – an exposé on the baseball team. Sophia is publicly humiliated when her boyfriend breaks up with her at Walsh’s end-of-year party and, when Walsh comes to her rescue, they somehow end up fake-dating. Sophia’s reasoning is that the situation will be helpful to her to write her article. But what could Walsh be after?

Sophia has an endearing, overly-dramatic way of telling her story. The characters around her are interesting: her best friend Edith is a breath of fresh air, ex-boyfriend Scott is a jerk, and Walsh is a super-sweet hero. I felt sorry for Sophia because of her parents’ self-centered and uncaring behavior and was glad they redeem themselves in the end.

This funny (yet, at times, sad) young adult romance hits a home run for me.

Warnings: underage drinking, alcohol abuse, marital difficulties.

I received this book in return for an honest review.

𝐒𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐚 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 (h), had her entire summer mapped out. She planned to write a good article, get accepted for the Bayview Blade internship, and start working there after school next fall. However, she didn’t expect the school to cut funding and cancel the newspaper, effective next school year. Since it is required that applicants attend a school with an active journalism program, she no longer has the opportunity to apply. However, her solution is to create an article that will impress the board on the secrets of the baseball team. She planned to use her boyfriend Scott, for information but she never expected to see him cheating at a party. When she is humiliated in front of everyone, they is until, the captain of the baseball team, 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐡 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 (H) steps in and tells the party that he has had feelings for her the entire time. Now they use a fake-dating plot to convince everyone and eventually they form a closer bond.

*•.¸♡ ★·.·´ 𝑹𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 ★·.·´¯`·.·★ ♡¸.•*

I honestly thought it was super cute that he would be open to doing things she liked. He doesn’t like reading but she read to him and he never said anything negative about her “nerdy” tendencies. Walsh is honestly one of the nicest MMCs and he was not problematic at all, which is very rare to see. He never got angry at her, and when she confessed she was using him for the article he QUIT BASEBALL. He didn’t know the team’s schemes so he didn’t take it personal that she told him she was going to use the information against them. She was being a bit selfish but she learned from her mistakes when her loved ones called her out, so I’m glad for that development.

“𝘋𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘚𝘤𝘰𝘵𝘵. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘻𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘰𝘮-𝘤𝘰𝘮 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘴𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘩𝘺 𝘰𝘣𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥, 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦. 𝘋𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘻𝘦.”

He genuinely was interested in her, and although he knew Scott was cheating and never told her it wasn’t malicious. Walsh appreciated Sophia and never wanted to change a thing about her. There were many times where he would just point out aspects that he liked about her, including her glasses 👓. I hope they are endgame and never break up. I love them 💞💖 The popular boy x nerdy girl trope will win me over all the time.

“𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘰 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘭𝘶𝘦-𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘱𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘺. 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘦𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘢. 𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘻𝘺 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘣𝘭𝘶𝘦-𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘱𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶.”

THREE DIFFERENT STORES?? He definitely fell first because she never praised him and wanted him as Walsh Hunter, the person and not the baseball player. I’m glad she didn’t idolize him because he truly needed someone who wanted to know him for -him-. The fact that she was grounded and skipped out 4th of July party to be with HER. He brought different stuff outside her porch because she couldn’t LEAVE??? This boy truly is so sweet and deserves the world. I’m honestly surprised that he was this nice, no drama whatsoever. This is a comfort read, seriously I would read this again for their dynamic. She was annoying plenty of times but she got it together so I forgive her.

𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥, this is a cute YA high school read and I love how the fake-dating trope was done. ✨

***spoilers little here and there***

It was alright read. I would’ve been finished this book. But I was reading this other series. So now that I’m done with this book. I will say that I kind of liked book 1 better than this one. This one was okay.

I was glad that Walsh stepped in though to help Sophia because “Hater Boy” what’s his name 🤔 Scott 😂 < yeah that’s it. Was a horrible human being to Sophia was playing her and everybody knew it but her.

You could tell he wasn’t crap from the beginning until half way towards the end. He thinks that he won over Walsh when Walsh actually won in the end he got that deal to play for that team and got the girl. Whereas Scott, lost Sophia and Jewel in one go. He got what was coming to him. Because he hated Walsh for nothing probably fall back when they was a kid.

That boy can sure hold a grudge i tell you that…

4 / 5 ⭐️

I'm not gonna lie, at one point during this book I thought to myself "There is no possible way this can progress well". Fortunately, I was proven wrong. The climax surprised me in the best possible way and I loved this book. It was cute, swoonworthy and very feel-good.

Walsh, obviously, has my whole heart. It is impossible not to like him.
Sophia, while annoying at times is also very sweet and caring.

It was all in all, a very sweet book! Highly recommended for all RomCom enjoyers :)

Out of My League follows Sophia (not Sophie!) as she navigates the summer before the senior year in high school. She thinks that her life is over, and her dreams are crushed when her school cuts the journalism program she loves to put more money into the sports teams, the baseball team in particular. To add more, her boyfriend breaks up with her at the party, with most of her schoolmates witnessing the embarrassing scene. Enter Walsh, who pretends to have a feeling for Sophia. They start (fake) dating, each using the fake relationship to their advantage. The problems arise when they both start realising that there may be something more to this. What I liked the most about Sarah Sutton’s writing, and which was evident in both What Are Friends For? and Out of My League, is how real characters feel. They act and talk like teenagers they are, and sometimes you want to roll your eyes and ask, ‘Really?’ until you remember that a few years earlier you can easily imagine yourself saying or doing something similar. A fun and cute YA romcom!

3.5 rounded up to 4.

Sophia is set on getting a journalism internship but has just found out her school program was cancelled thanks to the baseball team needing new bleachers. She decides she'll infiltrate the team and do an exposé, and it is a big help when the captain accepts to be her fake boyfriend for some weeks.

I was in love with Sarah Sutton's What Are Friends For? back in the beginning of the year so I had to get my hands on her next book. Let's just say that now I need them to keep coming. Of course, this is still comfort read, the good old trope of from enemies to... fake sweethearts? But it doesn't make it any less enjoyable; the perfect rec for lovers of YA romcom.

I was surprised at how this good feeling was similar to her previous book when everything was different. Maybe if I keep following her works I'll start noticing the similarities; they're the same genre after all! For now, they're all really different elements.

Sophia is really smart and has a strong personality, and Walsh is pretty much the dream boy, perfect book boyfriend. What people wouldn't tell is that they live a nightmare at home, trying to deal with their parents' issues. I love how it's not that they'll bond over this stuff but they still help one another get through it all. I loved the characters, I loved the conflict and I loved the resolution. And just like in her previous book, the drama doesn't bring the story down, it's neither overwhelming, nor toxic to the overall feeling of the book—just enough to give it depth.

As always, I got too wordy in my excitement but the message is for you to hurry and read it if you're a YA fan.

Honest review based on an ARC provided by the author. Many thanks for this opportunity.

Trust me I was done with books with fake relationships as their storyline but this somehow I did want to read this. To be honest pick this book when you want to read something really light. Also the plot is quite predictable and way too emotional. If you are going with this book for the hate-love , don’t pick this up.
Read this to see the best proposal ever.
Sophia Wallace an aspiring writer, I loved how determined she was towards her dreams. Her family time included just her even though her parents were around. I really liked the fact she upfront with Walsh. This girl had talented but she had something else in abundance which was insecurities about herself. She may have stood up face to face with Walsh but she felt she wasn’t good enough. She handles opinions about her like a pro. I just wish she told Walsh the entire truth .
Walsh , okay I may already like him because he is a baseball player then come his sweet side when he saved Sophia. Only he can annoy someone to the death but also protect them till the end. OMG!!!! I just loved how he always wanted to be with “his Sophie “, he is such a romantic guy. This guy gets plus points for always holding on to his principles.

These both became each others solid rock. Their friendship slowly did turn into a beautiful relationship. Their lows did hit the pit bottom and they did get bummed , this makes the book really emotional.

This book is AMAZING! I don't usually read YA romance, and I haven't any in a LONG time. (Usually I read YA fantasy) but this book reminded me how much I LOVE books like these. The story is engaging and relatable, letting the reader easily fall into the story. Sarah does an amazing job letting the reader feel everything Sophia feels. I never wanted the story to end or to have to say goodbye to these characters. For me the book took off around the 40% area, and I could not put it down! I read the last half in one day! The book is definitely meant for the young adult audience. The way it's written has a youthful feel to it. While most of the book is read don't have this quality, I found that it made for a really easy read. I read the ebook version of this book, but I will be buying a paperback version to add to my bookshelves because I loved it so much!

5/5 STARS!

This books was amazing!!

From the characters to the writing style to the dialogue; this book had everything I was looking for!
If you've read books like To All The Boys or The Upside of Falling, then you will definitely love this.
When reading the book you can tell that Sarah Sutton has carefully crafted even the tiniest details in this book.

I want to take a second to appreciate Walsh. He is everything! His personality was his biggest strength. He was always so friendly towards other people. He looked out for those around him. He shows his love for others in both grand and small gestures (*cough cough* reading and pool float). His emotions were so raw and real throughout the book and I loved how he wasn't the dark, brooding male lead who doesn't show any emotions. Also, he had flaws and they didn't debilitate his character, they made him stronger.

Sophia was also a fantastic character. My favourite thing about her was desire to do right by others. Don't get me wrong she made lots of mistakes along the way, but she always did her best to learn from them. Her flaws (like Walsh's) were such a big part of her character. There was one thing about Sophia that really annoyed me until she stopped doing it - I won't name it as it could be quite a large spoiler. That said it didn't take away from my enjoyment while reading the book.

Overall, this book. was an absolute joy to read and I recommend it if you're looking for:
- Great Character Development
- A Male Lead Who Isn't A Walking Red Flag
- The Fake Dating Trope Done Right

(Also I'd love to read everything in this book from Walsh's POV!!)

I read Sutton’s debut novel back in like February or March and I absolutely loved it! Going into her second novel, I had such high hopes and I can without a doubt say that it did not disappoint.

Out of My League follows the life of Sophia, a writer whose dream is to land an internship in her senior year of high school. The only problem is that in order to gain the internship, she has to write a stellar article for her school’s newspaper, but the school board has cut funding for the newspaper in order to get new bleachers for the baseball team. She comes up with an idea to expose the baseball team and get the school’s newspaper back up and running. Along the way, her boyfriend, Scott (who’s on the baseball team), publicly breaks up with her and she ends up in a fake relationship with the captain of the baseball team, Walsh Hunter. Throughout the story, Sophia and Walsh become closer and develop an understanding like no other.

I absolutely loved it, and I mean LOVED this story. The development between the two main characters was so well thought out and the story flowed tremendously well. You can tell this story was written with so much love and devotion. I loved learning about all the characters and the secrets surrounding them. It felt like I was back in high school experiencing these things first hand. Definitely one of my favorite reads!
