This week’s round-up of the best new Irish music features lots of quality new albums. Leading the way is Choice Music Prize nominated artist Socha Richardson with ‘Smiling Like an Idiot’, while Northern Ireland’s Roe delivers her long-awaited debut ‘That’s When The Panic Sets In’, and Patrick Stefan returns with his second full-length folk collection ‘Wayfere’, while electronic sound artist Moon Paw Print delivers their third collection ‘Summer Blue’.
Overhead The Albatross make their long-awaited return with ‘L’appel Du Vide’ their first release since 2016, while Ex-Otherkin frontman Luke Reilly’s project Blood Donor also making a welcome return with ‘Lonely Street’.
Malaki will be aiming to capitalise on a fruitful festival season with new single ‘Never Mind’, while Talos and Columbia Mills build towards the release of their new albums with ‘Kite’ and ‘The Day Has Won’, The Murder Capital, meanwhile, have previewed their newly announced second album ‘Gigi’s Recovery with ‘A Thousand Lives’.
Fresh from supporting Pixies in America, The Clockworks return with ‘Advertise Me’, while Anna Mieke delivers another sumptuous slice of folk in the shape of ‘Mannequin’ and rapper Sweetlemondae delivers her finest release to date with the smooth ‘Never Gonna Be’.
All this plus new tracks from the likes of Fya Fox, Raschel Mae Hannon, Tomike, Garrett Laurie, Corner Boy, Isaac Butler, The Gauze and Bambie Thug. Lisa Hannigan makes a notable contribution to John Smith’s ‘Star-Crossed Lovers’ while Irish hip hop is in collb mode this week with Unleashed from Versey, Sea High and Ollie Sloan and Danny Boy from Jordan, Maverick Sabre and BIg Nastie.
