Tay's Transplant Journey

Donation protected
Dearest Friends and Family,

Thank you very much for always being so supportive and for continuing to lift Tay up in prayer. She needs you now more than ever!

Here’s an overview of her life from the last few months:

April 11th she was admitted into the hospital thinking she was dealing with a small cold, only to find out she was having some, what they thought, was acute rejection. She was inpatient for 5 days on IV antibiotics & some high dose steroids. She went home only to be become more short of breath & went into hypertension and was admitted back into the hospital on April 23rd, underwent another Bronchoscopy & biopsy to be diagnosed with BOS (bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome) stage 2, which is obstruction within the airways not allowing her to breathe properly, causing chronic lung rejection. They started her on a rejection regimen called thymoglobulin which is used to help try to reverse the rejection. After 10 days of that she went home again only to have her lung function decreased by 20% going from 80% lung function now down to 30% within a short month. She is now back in the hospital receiving another round of high dose steroids, and now beginning a new treatment called “Photopheresis” which unfortunately last for 9 months. Tay will have to drive back & fourth to Dallas once a week until it’s completed. The motive behind this is to clean out & coat her white blood cells in hopes to slow the progression & or by the grace of God reverse the rejection. They will be able to tell if a difference is being made within the first few months. If no progress is being made, unfortunately there is talk about a 3rd double lung transplant. This is something extremely rare that is not typically preformed due to the severity & not the best outcomes. The doctors think if worse came to worse, she would be able to make an amazing turn around with something like this. (Absolutely last resort).

With all of this being said, life has been nothing short of easy this past month. It’s been completely turned upside down, going from living completely normal, graduating college, being offered her dream job all for it to be placed on hold until further notice.

First and Foremost we are holding firm to our faith in Christ and we fully know that God can work a miracle in Tay’s body and turn this around. We have put our trust in Him and we know he has a plan for her life and He is in control of this whole situation.

The sad reality is this is going to be a long road with many obstacles to overcome. Tay’s strong and we are all going to help her every step of the way but we need everyone’s help.

How can you help?
Praying daily over Tay’s health and mind (we will not be defeated and we will see a victory)
Financially by making a donation to help her with all of the unexpected costs she will acquire over the next year (medical, numerous hotel stays, meds, vehicle, etc)

We are very thankful God has blessed us with such an amazing community of family and friends and we cherish each of you.

Thank you for your love and support during this very tough season!
