Nico is my 3 year old baby who has been diagnosed with Moebius Syndrome one of the 5 rarest diseases in the world. Life changed dramatically when he was hospitalized.
Doctors in Peru indicated that the case of survival in our country was very low because it was an unknown disease, and they did not have specialists to treat it or operate on it. The only countries that could save his life were Mexico, the United States, and Canada.
We had to travel to Mexico immediately. Preliminary tests in Mexico indicated that 3 important nerves in his brain were not fully developed. 3 cranial pairs, facial nerve, oculo motor nerve, hypoglossal nerve and hypotonia were affected.
Our world as a family and that of his siblings has also been turned upside down, we are all extremely concerned and looking for all possible and impossible ways to help Nico overcome this disease.
In Nico's case, this disease has caused bilateral paralysis of the face, paralysis of the eyes, paralysis of the tongue. All of this prevents you from sucking, chewing, feeding, talking, smiling, gesturing, expressing your emotions, blinking, and moving your eyes.
To dramatically increase his chances of survival, we had to leave our home and family and come to the United States to undergo the procedure, treatment and operations that he needs and are fighting through this fundraising to cover his surgeries. Post-operative treatment and stay until the end of the long treatment.
After carrying out various studies, they detected that 3 important nerves did not fully develop in his brain, affecting the cranial nerves, causing 3 paralysis in his face, eyes, tongue and hypotonia and putting your life at high risk. A rare rare disease to the extent that it only affects 1 child in a million worldwide.
Nico is a VERY STRONG boy. He still has a lifetime to live. And he yearns for it more than anyone! Nico has already achieved 2 great battles, walking and starting to feed himself little by little. But it is not only, his medical condition puts his brain at risk and can cause more severe complications if he is not treated in time. They find him doing more studies for Cardiology and Neurology since he had a critical episode and was hospitalized again for his medical condition, there are risks, but if we act in time we can save the neurological and physical life of Nicolás. He is now at home attending the hospital for outpatient evaluations and treatment every day.
The protocol says that the treatment will last 48 months or more so Nico requires all our help! To be able to pay for treatment, multiple therapies, operations plus living expenses and lessen the anguish and concern not only of the disease but also the difficult fight we have to get the financial funds to save his life, but thank God we are NOT ALONE IN THE FIGHT! Nico es mi bebé de 3 años a quien le diagnosticaron el síndrome de Moebius, una de las 5 enfermedades más raras del mundo. Su vida cambió drásticamente cuando fue hospitalizado.
Los médicos de Perú indicaron que el caso de supervivencia en nuestro país era muy bajo porque era una enfermedad desconocida, y no contaban con especialistas para tratarla y operarla. Los únicos países que pudieron salvarle la vida fueron México, Estados Unidos y Canadá.
Tuvimos que viajar a México de inmediato. Las pruebas preliminares en México indicaron que 3 nervios importantes en su cerebro no estaban completamente desarrollados. Se vieron afectados 3 pares craneales, nervio facial, nervio óculo motor, nervio hipogloso e hipotonía.
Nuestro mundo como familia y el de sus hermanos también se ha puesto patas arriba, todos estamos sumamente preocupados y buscando todas las formas posibles e imposibles de ayudar a Nico a superar esta enfermedad.
En el caso de Nico, esta enfermedad ha provocado parálisis bilateral del rostro, parálisis de los ojos, parálisis de la lengua. Todo esto le impide chupar, masticar, alimentar, hablar, sonreír, gesticular, expresar sus emociones, parpadear y mover los ojos.
Para aumentar drásticamente sus posibilidades de supervivencia, tuvimos que dejar nuestro hogar y nuestra familia y venir a los Estados Unidos para someternos al procedimiento, tratamiento y operaciones que él necesita y estamos luchando a través de esta recaudación de fondos para cubrir sus cirugías. Tratamiento postoperatorio y estancia hasta el final del tratamiento prolongado.
Tras realizar diversos estudios, detectaron que 3 nervios importantes no se desarrollaron por completo en su cerebro, afectando los nervios craneales, provocando 3 parálisis en su rostro, ojos, lengua e hipotonía y poniendo en alto riesgo su vida. Una rara enfermedad rara en la medida en que solo afecta a 1 niño de cada millón en todo el mundo.
Nico es un niño MUY FUERTE. Todavía le queda toda una vida por vivir. ¡Y lo anhela más que nadie! Nico ya ha logrado 2 grandes batallas, caminando y comenzando a alimentarse poco a poco. Pero no es solo su condición médica, ya que pone en riesgo su cerebro y puede causar complicaciones más graves si no se trata a tiempo. Estan haciendo más estudios de Cardiología y Neurología ya que tuvo un episodio crítico y fue hospitalizado nuevamente por su condición médica, hay riesgos, pero si actuamos a tiempo podemos salvar la vida neurológica y física de Nicolás. Ahora está en casa asistiendo al hospital para evaluaciones y tratamiento ambulatorios todos los días.
El protocolo dice que el tratamiento durará 48 meses o más, por lo que Nico requiere toda nuestra ayuda. Para poder pagar el tratamiento, las múltiples terapias, las operaciones más los gastos de manutención y disminuir la angustia y la preocupación no solo por la enfermedad sino también por la difícil lucha tenemos que conseguir los fondos económicos para salvar su vida, pero gracias a Dios NO ESTAMOS SOLOS. ¡EN LA PELEA!
