Social Services Fund

School Social Workers are the link between school, home, and community in providing direct services to students, families, and school personnel to promote, support and enhance students’ well-being, social, and academic success.

School Social Workers help to reduce barriers for students and families by linking them with services and programs within the community.

Donations provided to the Social Services Team are used to advance efforts that benefit students, faculty, staff, families, and the greater community.   This includes outreach activities to meet the needs of staff and families; recognition programs/activities for staff, families, and community; and special projects.

Projects, Initiatives, and events rotate throughout the year. Some current projects include:

  • Nourish to Flourish.  This is an internal recognition activity in collaboration with the OCPS Mental Health Commission.  This initiative allows for recognition of a randomly selected OCPS staff member to receive a wellness boost in the form of a gift card.  The goal of this is to let staff know how much they are appreciated and that they matter.
  • Sleep Wellness.  This initiative assists with providing housing insecure students with items for a good night’s sleep.  This includes purchasing blankets, pillows, sheets, and pajamas.  In addition information, resources and supports are shared with families by the Social Services Team.
  • Family Assistance.  Funds to provide immediate assistance in the form of grocery gift cards or gas cards for families when they are lacking basic food items or need to assistance to attend or participate in school events.

Our district would not be able to provide the resources and supports mentioned above without the generous financial contributions of people like you.  Funds go directly to serving students, families, OCPS staff or the community.  Thank you for your support of our program.
