ESPN Veterans Coverage
Each year, ESPN dedicates a week of multiplatform content in November as part of its annual America's Heroes: A Salute to our Veterans initiative to salute veterans and active members of the United States Armed Forces. This year's Veterans Week will be held Nov. 8-15 in recognition of Veterans Day and will comprise of highlights and features on ESPN's platforms and programming, including Salute to Service shows on First Take Nov. 8-12, and features on SportsCenter Nov. 11-14. ESPN programs including Get Up!, NFL Countdown, Monday Night Countdown, Monday Night Football and College GameDay also will have Veterans Week content as will ESPN's digital and audio platforms.
ESPN also is committed to supporting organizations dedicated to those that have served. This includes teaming up with Disabled American Veterans (DAV) to support virtual career fairs that provide access to critical employment opportunities to transitioning military members, veterans and their spouses seeking new or better jobs. Earlier this year, ESPN-supported DAV virtual career fairs engaged nearly 7,900 veterans and spouses, resulting in 2,900 interviews being conducted and 960 job offers made.
In recognition of the sacrifices our active military and their spouses have made, ESPN and The Walt Disney Company supports programs and organizations that ensure opportunities to enter the job force through our Heroes Work Here program. Since its inception, more than 10,000 veterans and spouses have been hired. Additionally, ESPN pairs employees as mentors with veterans and their spouses through the American Corporate Partners (ACP) program, which connects post 9/11 veterans to business professionals for mentoring, career counseling and networking.
