Elon launches new telehealth program for students

The program offers medical and mental health care to students from any U.S. location at any time.

Elon University is now offering its students TimelyCare – a new telehealth program specifically designed for students that provides access to medical and mental virtual health care from anywhere in the United States at any time.

The service complements the existing in-person services at Counseling Service and Student Health Services and offers students access to a wide range of care when they are away from campus or after hours. The program is provided with no additional cost or fee to students.

“TimelyCare allows us to provide another level of support to students that they can access wherever they are and whenever they need to,” Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley said. “We want students to know that they have a full range of options for in-person and virtual care, both on campus and off.”

Whether a student is under the weather, anxious or overwhelmed, they will be able to talk to a licensed provider from your smartphone or any web-enabled device. Providers are available to offer medical and mental health support via phone or secure video visits.

Students can access TimelyCare by visiting TimelyCare.com. Students will register online or through the program’s app using their elon.edu email address and the access code distributed to them in an Oct. 12 email from Dooley.

Students can then have visits from any web-enabled device including a smartphone, laptop or desktop. TimelyCare is available from anywhere in the United States.

The following services are available to Elon students, with no additional fee or cost:

  • Medical:  24/7, on-demand or scheduled access to a medical provider that can treat a wide range of common illnesses like cold and flu, sinus infection, allergies and more.
  • TalkNow:  24/7, on-demand access to a mental health professional to talk about anything at any time.

Beyond medical and mental health care, TimelyCare also offers virtual mediation and yoga sessions at various times during the week.

TimelyCare services are provided without additional fee or cost to the student. More information from TimelyCare about the services available and the program are available here. Information about TimelyCare has also been added to the websites for Counseling Services and Student Health Services and may be a helpful option to consider when wanting to talk with a provider after-hours or sooner than the next available appointment.

Note that crisis counselors will also continue to be available 24/7 at 336-278-2222.  The services of TimelyCare are in addition to existing campus services and resources.

Students with questions about TimelyCare or the services offered can visit the TimelyCare website or contact the Office of the Dean of Students at 336-278-7200.
