Downtown Sacramento Foundation

Fueling innovation in the Urban Core

The Downtown Sacramento Foundation (DSF) is dedicated to fostering civic pride through the improvement of the social and physical environment of Downtown. The DSF is a public, charitable 501(c)3, formed under the Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law for charitable purposes.

Our services complement Downtown Sacramento Partnership programs and provide elevated services for business development, public space management and beautification, homeless outreach, and public safety. Through public and private partnerships, DSF develops programs to celebrate the cultural arts, create an active and attractive community and provide assistance for those in need.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Statement: DSF is committed to building an inclusive and diverse place for the people who live, work, play and visit downtown Sacramento.

Support local! Donations support Calling All Dreamers and placemaking projects across downtown.

To make the highest impact possible, DSF raises funds year-round to support these key areas:

1.  Placemaking:
Placemaking focused on small-scale, pop-up programming at activity centers throughout the downtown core as well as creative installations inclusive of, but not limited to, lighting and art enhancements.

2. Business Support Services:
Funds support resources provided to downtown small businesses and entrepreneurs retooling their storefronts to continue operations and/or modify their business, including our annual program, Calling All Dreamers.

This year, DSF is raising money through Big Day of Giving to support the enhancement of the I Street gateway into Old Sacramento Waterfront. The early giving period opens April 18 and runs through May 2.

Reaching New Lights: A new Iconic sign at the historic Waterfront!

In 2021, DSF secured the funding to light the Sacramento skyline! The Old Sacramento Waterfront has a new, unique and iconic landmark sign atop the California State Railroad Museum to greet visitors as they approach Downtown Sacramento on Interstate 5.

DSF raised nearly $165,000 for the sign from the Downtown Sacramento Partnership, California State Railroad Museum Foundation, Visit Sacramento, Harvego Family Foundation, LDK Ventures, Young Professionals of the Rotary Club of Sacramento, and the generosity of dozens of individuals. The sign was installed in 2022 thanks to an incredible amount of community support.
