WVU Medicine vaccination clinic is up, running smoothly

The WVU Medicine vaccination clinic went smoothly Thursday, according to two health system spokespeople.
The clinic opened Thursday at the former Sears location at Morgantown Mall, and 500 people 70 and older were vaccinated against COVID-19.
Another 500 are scheduled to be vaccinated today.
WVUM President and CEO Albert Wright previously said WVU Medicine is working with the governor’s office to be one of the super-hubs around the state. As more of the vaccines become available, he anticipates this clinic will vaccinate up to 4,000 per day.
Wright said WVUM reassigned 50 employees to this project.
Thursday, a steady stream of people made their way to the clinic, checked in and were shown to one of 30 stations to receive their vaccines.
Today’s 500 vaccines are spoken for, but anyone 65 and up can start the process of making an appointment at wvumedicine.org/vaccine.
The clinic is expected to be open next week, as vaccine doses are available.
The clinic is not limited to WVU Medicine patients, but is open to all West Virginia residents.
