Local curandera, Lisa Martinez, provides a unique viewpoint to Modern & Contemporary Art collection.

Mireku and Asante Abankwah will give tours from their unique perspectives of growing up in a mix of American and Ghanaian cultures, heavily influenced by music, dance, and sports.

Novelí performs a commentary on the social tensions targeting the queer, transgender, and BIPOC communities, set to "All Is Full of Love" by Bjork. Her outfit, constructed with fellow artist Nyx, evokes the image of the Statue of Liberty carrying the weight of the struggles minoritized individuals have faced in recent years.

Part 1. Abena x Aggie: Designs inspired from American fashion and integrated with Ghanaian aesthetic. Made with pure Ghanaian cotton fabric by Ghanaian designer hands. Seamstress: Joyce Agnes Bonney

Part 2. Unthreaded: Designs by Kit Bollag-Miller: Performance of fashion, movement, and dance sharing queer retellings of antique narratives. Merging aesthetic nods to medieval and contemporary clothing, join us in a time-traveling retelling of The Siren, The Knight, The Actor, and The Faggot. Performers: Azul Angeles Camacho, George Delaney, Prince Glo Felicity, Syah Soleil Felicity LaBeija, Chris Najera, María Paula Morera Nuñez, S.t3v, Ankita Sharma, Silt Taft.

Mesquite is a digital video about a memory of Cherish Marquez’s grandmother and the Mesquite tree. The video is accompanied by cuttings of the mesquite plant.

Creosote, by Cherish Marquez, Hamilton Building, Level 3 Atrium
Creosote is a digital video about the feeling of home told by Laila Karabash, emphasizing her connection to the desert and to Creosote. The video is accompanied by cuttings of the creosote plant.

Maíz, Pápalo, Cattail, Nopales, by Cherish Marquez Martin Building, Level 1, Creative Hub
Maíz is the story of the Corn Mother told by Cal Duran. Pápalo is a story of a plant that is grown by the family of Celi Torres. Cattail is a story of the Cattail as it is used in ceremony by Chelsea Kiah. Nopales is a story of the cactus and her mother told by Cecilia Aguirre.

The videos are accompanied by a variety of plants from the desert of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and other flora.

Photographic imagery was used to create the patterns on this cotton tapestry. The patterns were drawn to the beat of an African drum.

What is Untitled?

Untitled: Artist Takeover is a quarterly collaboration with local artists and creatives to create an evening full of events, performances, artmaking, and one-of-a-kind experiences. Throughout the night, artists showcase their work while providing a hands-on and engaging atmosphere.
