Food from a can offers quick and easy meals for people with limited cooking time, or culinary skills — but does that mean any item should go in the tinned form? 

Heinz has decided to bring its canned mac and cheese to the United States after first becoming a grocery store staple for years on UK store shelves.

On the label, Heinz describes its Macaroni Cheese by writing: 'A simple touch or two can make Heinz Macaroni Cheese even tastier. Heinz Macaroni Cheese. Made with a creamy cheese sauce.'

The product is available to consumers on Amazon for $3 for anyone looking to try the new canned product within two business days. 

Although Heinz boasts the Macaroni Cheese to be a balance of 'creamy cheese sauce' and noodles, the food in a can has left some reviewers wary about the product.  

One person hilariously commented: 'So delicious best quality just kidding its trash.'  

Bringing the product to the US could be Heinz' attempt to help boost sales for the company. 

It was revealed in June that Kraft Heinz, the two companies merged in 2015, saw their stock plummet 35 per cent in the first half of 2019, CNN reported. 

But that is just the tip of problems for the company. 

Kraft Heinz has also been reportedly cutting back on production costs and employees in an effort to save money.

Once the two companies merged, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese was then introduced to the UK in 2016. Consumers in the UK are now able to purchase the product in frozen form to gauge interest for the American food item. 

Now adding canned Macaroni Cheese to Heinz' food lineup in the US could be a cheap option for the company to drum up business for the company without having to create a new product. 

The news of the canned mac and cheese comes after the company announced last year it was releasing a new condiment called Mayochup, which is mayonnaise combined with ketchup. 

The innovation was such a success for the brand that they announced the release of Mayomust, Kranch and Mayocue earlier this year to further promote the combination of its condiments. 

Could Macaroni Cheese have the same success as Mayochup in the US? 

It will be up to the consumers to decide, but the pasta in a can has so far created only criticism from people online.
