CHERRY HILL - A Massachusetts-based operator of assisted-living communities has announced plans to close a facility here.

Cherry Hill Senior Living is closing as the result of a portfolio review, said its operator, Five Star Senior Living.

The company's announcement did not identify a shutdown date.

The Massachusetts-based owner of Cherry Hill Senior Living has announced plans to close the facility on Cooper Landing Road.

In an online statement, Five Star said it regularly assesses "the resident experience we are able to offer as compared to the expectations of our customers and the other offerings in the marketplace. "

"As a result of this evaluation, Five Star Senior Living has made the difficult decision to close Cherry Hill Senior Living," it said.

The publicly held firm has also noted the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, reporting higher costs and lower occupancy.

A Five Star spokesman did not address questions about a closing date for the facility or for its residents' future accommodations.

The company's statement said it's working "with residents and families to ensure a smooth transition in accordance with local, state, federal and (Centers for Disease Control) guidelines."

"We are also committed to supporting any impacted team members," the firm said.
