IF YOU ARE REGISTERING TO PLAY WITH SPECIFIC FRIENDS OR A SPECIFIC COACH, PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE IN THE GROUP REGISTERS AND PAYS AT THE SAME CHURCH.  THERE ARE THREE CHURCHES YOU CAN REGISTER THROUGH, BUT WHOLE TEAMS OR GROUPS OF FRIENDS WHO WISH TO PLAY TOGETHER NEED TO ALL BE REGISTERED AT THE SAME PLACE.

Kingdom Basketball 2024 is open to all girls in Pre-K through 8th grade, and boys in Pre-K through 12th grade.  This fun and recreational basketball league is a wonderful way to meet new friends while learning the sport in a supportive, encouraging environment. Parents, please read through the following before you register.  You will be asked if you have read and understand/agree with CHAPELWOOD’S PHILOSOPHY FOR TEAM SPORTS and the CODE OF ETHICS FOR PARENTS & COACHES when you register your child.   In addition, you will be asked to sign a WAIVER & RELEASE OF LIABIITY for your child.

 CHAPELWOOD'S PHILOSOPHY FOR TEAM SPORTS

At Chapelwood, we want our sports programs to be fun, safe, and recreational for everyone involved.  We emphasize giving children the opportunity to learn and play a sport in a supportive and encouraging environment, while teaching Christian ethics and attitudes, skill development and participation.  The goal is for each child to have a chance to play in every game, and for parents and coaches to accept and respect each player at their level of ability.

 REGISTRATION

All registrations for Kingdom Basketball 2024 will be made using an online registration system, which will be available on this page from September 15 through November 15, 2023.  Cost per player is $193, and payment must be made via credit card at time of registration.  This fee includes a team jersey, equipment, practice/instruction time each week and all league fees.  When filling out the registration form, please make sure all information is correct, especially your child’s name.  In addition, you can request a certain coach, and any friends your child wants to play with on their team.  The more information you provide us on the registration form the better.  Teams are coached by parents, so please consider signing up to coach your child’s team.

FORMING TEAMS

When registration closes on November 15, we will start the process of forming teams based on children’s grade level and gender, as well as any coach and friend requests you have provided.  We make every effort to accommodate requests for a specific coach and/or friends to play with.  There are usually a few coed teams for Pre-K children.  If there are not enough players in a specific grade, we may combine more than one grade on a team.   Pre-formed teams with a coach will be accepted, however, Chapelwood reserves the right to add players to a team at their discretion. 

PRACTICES & GAMES

Practices will begin in December of 2023, and continue through the Kingdom Basketball season.  Your team coach will notify you of practice days and times once the teams are formed.  Each team will have one practice each week in the Chapelwood gym, either on a weekday evening or on Sunday afternoon/evening. 

Games will be on Saturdays, January 6 through February 17, 2024, at various church and school gyms in the Memorial/Spring Branch area.

CODE OF ETHICS FOR PARENTS & COACHES

To provide support, care and encouragement to all children participating in the Chapelwood Sports Ministry, we ask all parents and coaches to abide by the following:

• Do everything possible to ensure each child plays in a safe and healthy environment.
• Remember the game is for the children, not the adults.
• Encourage good sportsmanship by respecting all players, coaches and officials at every practice and game.
• Place the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of the children ahead of any personal desire to win.
• Uphold a drug, alcohol and tobacco-free sports environment and refrain from their use at all games and practices.

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED, AND TEAMS ARE BEING FORMED.  AS WE GO THROUGH THE PROCESS OF FORMING TEAMS, THERE MIGHT BE SPACES TO ADD MORE CHILDREN.  CONTACT CASON ABOUT REGISTERING.
