Support Seattle Public Schools (SPS) in placing an Interagency Recovery High School directly across from John Hay Elementary School
Why this petition matters
Now that SPS has taken the time to address concerns - many of them unfounded and/or based in fear (http://www.scribd.com/doc/248846381/Seattle-Public-Schools-Interagency-School-FAQ) it's time we show SPS that there is indeed support for the Interagency School and its placement on Queen Anne.
WE welcome and value the gift that this school has offered our community and we believe that these students are not criminals but vulnerable kids in need of our support as a community.
WE embrace the students, staff and administration and welcome them to our neighborhood. We admire these students for their commitment and resilience, and look forward to partnering with Interagency and celebrating their successes.
WE don't believe the students or school pose a safety issue and are aware of successful examples of recovery schools being placed in close proximity to pre-schools with great success (for both the high school and the preschools).
WE hope to end the judgement of our entire community based on the comments and actions of a few and instead to look positively upon the actions and support of the many.
WE think Kaaren Andrews, her staff and students are brave, mature and are to be respected for their commitment and work towards maintaining positive life outcomes and educational successes We welcome Interagency to Queen Anne.
The authors of this petition are concerned parents of Queen Anne students. Thank you for your time.
