Over 5.5 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer’s disease today and this number is rapidly increasing. The majority of healthcare expenditures related to dementia occur in the later stages of disease when patients are often living in the CNF setting. This project will provide a platform for delivery of care meeting CMS Long Term Care Requirements and providing practical tools needed to address deficiencies in CNF dementia care.
The UK Sanders-Brown Center on Aging exists as a major resource for the Commonwealth, and a national leader in efforts to improve the quality of life for older adults through research and education, playing an instrumental role in providing educational programming for healthcare professionals in KY. The KEEN-CDC Initiative is funded through CMS Grant #2018-04-KY- 0329 and the Kentucky Office of the Inspector General.
