Silver nest is good concept. The issue is the owners avoid taking responsibility by putting out hints for safety etc. I had to report serious issues with the individual I rent from, I got a standard reply and apology. Then recommendations for seeking an atty and links for mental health help. The reply gave the standard statement, "We take these issues seriously, and investigate each individually,...if breach of our policies are found we will block the user". I stated I had notes with dates and times, they did not ask for my proof. I am concerned that ****** nest will tell the individual that I complained, and there will be further retaliation.Review from Jo Ann M

Try getting a phone call back from them to get any help listing your home. Many tries no success. I decided if I can't get customer service to help me get on the site, what will happen when I'm on it and need assistance.Going back to ******* list.Review from Gail D

I registered with Silvernest a few years back but didn't use it because of Covid. I came back to it as I was looking for a room to rent on a month-to-month. It's been a few weeks since, and I still haven't gotten a response from the person renting the room or, for that matter, anyone from Silvernest. I sent in my background check as requested and sent another message to the home owner. I'm wondering if this agency is legitimate. Please reply. I am so very grateful to Silvernest for devising a wonderful homesharing service specifically geared to help older people seek and find companions/ tenants and roommates and/or to rent out part of their homes to prospective companions/tenants. This service is unlike any of the other roommate finding apps. They do a very thorough job at background checking both the tenants and the homeowners, and they also do an excellent personality match to ensure that those pairs seeking to Home Share are highly compatible. I especially love that they collect the rent for you and deposit it into your account. And also amazing is the fact that they provide $10,000 liability insurance to both the renter and the homeowner. No other company comes close and its benefits. The homeowner simply pays 5% of their rent for these amazing services. Its such a small amount and you could never get these services anywhere near the amount elsewhere or if you purchase them on your own. Even the leases can be customized and made agreeable to both parties, and they also follow the state lease laws. Anytime I have spoken with their customer service representatives, I have gotten a very courteous caring and very thorough response to any questions or concerns. I hope that this company grows exponentially and reaches out to the seniors of every state in the **. There is definitely a need for homeshare services as people get older. Most people do not like to live alone and maybe they need a little bit of assistance from someone a little bit younger or healthier and if they are willing to find someone to help out they can lower the rent and exchange. It works out beautifully for everybody. The homeowner gets needed income and the renter gets an incredible deal on a Home Share, which almost always includes a private bedroom private bath and usage of all the common areas. We included utilities in the lower ranch as well because they rancher is helping my mother a few hours a week. This has been a godsend and has kept my mother from getting depressed and lonely after my father passed away , and it has also kept her out of a nursing home.Review from Vivian C

This Company allows people who rent places to misrepresent to prospective tenants. I made the mistake of moving in to one of these rentals. I rented a room in this house. It stated that I would have to pay a $700.00 deposit and $750.00 per month. I willingly did this. It was not until I moved in however, which cost me almost $400.00 to move my things, that the owner told me that I would now have to pay his internet bill which was almost $200.00 per month! All that I have is an iPhone. I was NOT allowed to set up my own WIFI either. He also let one of my cats out that was an inside cat and she has been lost for over a week now! This owner also comes into my room without my permission. I contacted Silvernest to file a complaint and they completely ignored me! I wish to file a complaint for ignoring an obvious misrepresentation by a renter. There is also no air conditioning in the home and the lights are not allowed on. This was a horrible waste of my time and my money!!!Silvernest, Inc Response

Hi ******, We are very sorry for your poor experience. We never want renters to have an experience where what they are getting is not what was agreed to. If you use Silvernest's Lease Builder payment terms, including the responsibility of utilities, should be clearly articulated and agreed on. We do realize that what is agreed to and signed is not always the reality, so we are also working on better tools to rate and review rentals and renters. We will review internally why your request was not responded to via our customer team and make sure things like this do not go unanswered in the future.Customer Response

I find it very hard to believe that your Company has ANY concern for the RENTER!! The whole thing is set up to protect the HOMEOWNER!! The renters must get a criminal background check done to satisfy the owner, but owner doesn’t have to pass anything!! There are NO reviews for these homeowners, to find out if there have been any previous complaints! This “homeowner “ has attempted to assault me 4 times so far! He has a very bad temper and has multiple issues with previous renters according to the current renter who also lives here! It has now been 3 weeks and my cat, who he let out, has still not come back! I’m moving out, and this will be extremely expensive for me!! He will also not return the security deposit!! This will most likely end up in court! You CANNOT ignore abusive Homeowners because you are receiving money from them!! This has not only been misrepresentation, it has been an extremely dangerous situation which you need to be held accountable for!!!
